by The Sandbox Josephs

Playing an old time Weissenborn lap steel, a banjo and a prehistoric electric Gibson guitar, this Trio creates a blend of music combining Bluegrass, Country and Blues: sometimes gentle, sometimes rough, dark, wild or lonely, you name it.

Album Notes
In a way, the instrumentation tells it all about THE SANDBOX JOSEPHS from Bavaria: an old time Weissenborn lap steel, a Fender banjo, an electric Gibson ES-125. That’s enough to create quite a wayward kind of handmade music: sometimes gentle, sometimes rough, dark, wild or lonely, you name it.

"Dig" is the Trio's first release (2018).

Great Album, great tracks
In an age when most people purchase digital songs & albums it is wonderful to come across one where the actual physical copy is worth purchasing.
A lot of thought has gone into the design of the CD, cover and booklet included, the artwork is wonderful.
As far as the tracks themselves. are concerned, I have got a huge music collection that ranges from the present day, daring back to the 50's and earlier, the majority of these albums have one track that isn't that great (maybe a couple). This is certainly NOT the case with Dig. Every single one is great and you can hear so many influences in the songs.. at present I am listening to Kings Highway which reminds of one of my all great country singer favourites.. the legendary The Man In Black.. Johnny Cash himself.
I will be reviewing Dig on my own website as Mays album of the month & playing a couple of tracks on my radio show.. it is going to very difficult to decide which songs to choose.

Excellent Album
Excellent artwork, excellent songs, excellent playing! It's rare to find an album by a band - any band - where the artists didn't put a foot wrong. On "Dig" The Sandbox Josephs managed to do just that - highly recommended! GET THIS RECORD!

Unique and lovely CD
Great value, 13 songs, over 50 minutes and no fillers. Opens with the barnstorming ‘Rocket’ and then goes reflective with songs that take their time and make you want to listen again. Difficult to pigeonhole; bit of bluegrass, bit of Americana but mostly ploughing their own furrow. Favorite tracks, ‘King’s Highway’ and ‘Many Ways to Die’. Have to agree with previous reviewers that artwork and sleeve design are exceptional.
