Album Notes
Bands form every day, but The Side Ways formed for a different reason. As opposed to young musicians making music for the first time, here are seasoned sidemen who decided to take control of their own musical identities. Having worked with many top Nashville artists, (Dixie Chicks, Gary Allan, Keith Urban, etc.) writing and recording original music was the next logical step. “I love playing other people’s music,” says guitarist/singer Chris Raspante, “but, there’s always been a strong need to play what’s in my heart, and not just what’s written on a page. That’s not always easy to do when it isn’t your show.”

Taking a hands-on approach, The Side Ways wrote, recorded, produced, mixed, and even mastered their debut album. “Right or wrong, we take all the credit AND blame! It is our baby,” says drummer Tim Horsley. Hailing from Illinois and Texas, the band is equal parts Rock, Blues, Folk, and Gospel in their music – a harder version of Americana.

Live, the duo makes a big sound, combining both electric and acoustic guitars, backed with drums and percussion that gives the audience a slightly rawer version of the recorded tunes. Add intense vocals and lyrics on top, and the whole package comes together in a way that audiences are responding to. ““The record, the band, the live show, all feel like a family owned business where we’re all in it together making it work,” Chris says. “And, I think people can hear that!”
