ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Skatterbrains were a musical phenomenon who introduced the Boulder-Denver, Colorado, area to the amazing ska revival sounds that were mainly being heard in England from 1981-1984. As they played their favorite Specials, English Beat, and Madness tunes, they simultaneously were writing their own ska and reggae originals. They opened shows for New Wave artists who came through the area, including U2 and Dave Edmunds. In 1983, songwriters and founders T Valladares and Dave Gunders moved the band to Boston, Massachusetts, along with sax man Pat Tugman. There they added new drummer Seth Burkhart and found a following in the many clubs and universities. Recording in the Cars Syncro Sound studios, they got airplay on the local radio stations. In 1984, Valladares, Gunders, and Tugman returned to Boulder, Colorado, played some farewell gigs, and moved on to other endeavors. Valladares and Gunders still do projects together and occasionally show up around Boulder with their still crazy group, the Mighty Twisters.
