Album Notes
"The Talk: Youth and Other Lies. Another great unsung 80's band / writing team that found a more focused, tech- rock sound on this collection from 1989-1991. As is so often the case, they were a year or so too late. By the beginning of the 90's, the stripped down grunge period was just starting to supplant this more produced Big Hair style of writing and recording.

But now, as it is all history anyway, these songs recall a period where great sounding, multi- textural rock was 'the talk' of radio & concert halls. Check out the earlier compilation release "You Talkin' To Me?" from a more pop phase of The Talk, and also "Terra Phane" which was their Atlanta metal band followup in 1994. Quite a transformation!"

-Malcolm Drie / Rolling Rock Magazine

All songs written by Diankeri Bernet & John McLane with: Larry Zurn: bass & co-writer on several songs; Scott Krehling: co- writer on "Crawl Back Home" and "Hell or High Water"; Mike Shanaberger: guitar and co-writer on "Big Emotions" and "Rock and a Hard Place"; Steve LaValley : bass and Steve Hambruch: drums; (both co-writers on "Did I Hear You Say Love"). Yes, all but Scott were in various performing versions of the band!
