ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Convocation" means a coming together. It’s the perfect word for the Wayne Riker Brotherhood’s gathering of rhythm & blues all stars. Every tune was carefully selected to give you the listener a steady mix of blues genres, from Delta and Chicago to Gospel and Jump Blues. Legendary vocalist and keyboard great Mike Finnigan, along with Wayne Riker's versatile guitar chops, anchor the rock solid rhythm section supporting the session’s multiple singers and guest instrumentalists. You will hear refreshing vocal interpretations on some blues classics, accompanied by slide guitar, blues harp and funky piano, organ and sax phrases, in addition to three dynamic instrumentals. What “comes together” is the heart and soul of this great American art form. There is something for everyone on this album. And all of it is dripping with soul.
