Album Notes
Secret Gardens is, as always, an ambitious project made of different influences. The Wimshurst's Machine tries always to make more than just "a good track", always works in the album as an artistic opera in itself and here we are: Secret Gardens melts the sexy, tasty chill out mood typical of the band with two major suites of tracks who are like two symphonie" made of different sounds: "Moonshadows" is an ambient suite in 5 parts, where the story is told in a more "Brian Eno style" than the opening tracks. If also in previous albums the classical influences where appearing at times, here the last 7 tracks of the album are, as a matter of fact, classical or heavily influenced by the classical music style. "Secret Garden" is a suite who melts all the works the band made with a classical taste.
Most of those tracks are excerpt from movies or documentaries where they were used as soundtrack (that TWM scored of course).

120 minutes of delightfully seductive music
"Secret Garden" is the latest in a growing line of ambitious projects by The Wimshurst's Machine and brings the ensemble's total number of original studio album releases to 4 in the six year period since the founding of the group. In this new release the novelty factors are a number of prestigious collaborations with such artists as Corrado Rossi, Sally Cooper, William O'Connell, Harry Tarnecky, and the presence of two major "symphonic" suites: "Moonshadows" and "Secret Garden". "Moonshadows" is a five-track ambient suite in a style declaredly influenced by the great Brian Eno, while "Secret Garden" is a seven-track suite with overt classical overtones. These two suites make up a considerable porportion of the album's total runtime and include many excerpts from original TWM film and documentary soundtracks, an area in which the band has always been very active. "Secret Garden" comprises 20 tracks and 120 minutes of delightfully seductive music, dominated by ambient atmospheres but with noteworthy elements of classical, world, rock and jazz.

Low Tide, ¡LO MÁXIMO!
Una buena copa de vino, de preferencia tinto chileno, un buen Merlot... y acompañarlo con Low Tide... ¡LO MÁXIMO!

Secret Gardens is a wonderful Album... each song better than the other... you're amazing! Please go on on this way!

i like it
I finally got around listening this and I'd say that my favourite tracks are Pain in pleasure, Low Tide, Beneath the Surface and Gilgamesh and the Tree of Huluppu. Rest weren't bad either, but these are the ones that stood above the rest.

Absolutely amazing!
Another great, beautiful musical project from this band!
All tracks flow so nicely and the two special Suites are the icing on the cake!
Impressive, original and so well-arranged performances with beautiful solos all played with great taste and class.
I immediately liked this Album and I'm sure you too will love it! Most reccomended!!

Cimmerian Rhapsody: Warm, yet COOL
The syncopation between the bass lines and piano melody were stellar at the start! Then that great syncopation continued, but now between the bass and the guitar. And this continued.. The bass was the glue that held all the lead rhythms together, and handed the torch from each lead part.. All while there was a simple background, groovy, smooth drum beat. The mood was very chill, yet cool. Like a warm, dark and clear night.. I like the way it ended; the lead guitar faded out as the keys gently whisped away, fading out 30 seconds or so after.
Great mix on all the instruments. Everything was properly set in and balanced.

absolutely wonderful
Wow, what I've heard so far sounds absolutely wonderful ... musicianship & production standards seem better than ever, but best of all, this is the sound of "The Wimshurst's Machine" ... that unique blend of style and taste we all love.
Well worth the wait guys, this is very COOL.

I didn't think TWM could top what they've recorded in the past but now I have been proven wrong. What I've listened to is brilliant and at sometimes reminds me of Vangelis. Poetic, romantic and dramatic.
