ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Duets, Vol. 1 is the debut album from guitar and bass duo, The Wolfe Brothers, and is full of swinging, melodic, improvisations and a refreshing choice of repertoire. This album showcases The Wolfe Brothers’ strong commitment to, and deep understanding of, the tradition of straight-ahead jazz. Listeners may well recognize the influence of great performers such as Ray Brown and Joe Pass. The Wolfe Brothers’ deep sense of communication reflects a lifetime of playing music together.

Brothers Tim, bass, and Matt, guitar, are the two oldest of four siblings who hail from a family full of musicians. Together they have toured internationally. Separately they have made strong careers for themselves in their adopted cities; Tim in Philadelphia and Matt in New York City. Tim has performed with Tim Warfield, Odean Pope, John Swana, Bill Goodwin, Jimmy Bruno, and many others; Matt has performed with Alan Baylock, Gary Williams, and Nik Page, among many others, and has been a regular on the cruise ship circuit. While they’ve established their careers separately, they have come together on this album to showcase the playfulness in their music and the symbiotic nature of their relationship. They extend a warm invitation to the listener to join in on an intimate familial conversation.
