ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Boulder’s the Yawpers release their debut LP, “Capon Crusade,” and fans of raucous alt-country should take note: This band has legs. Only a bit over a year old, the four-piece has already built a reputation for riotous live shows and put out two releases. Their sound may be a well-tread road of country-meets-rock ‘n’ roll, but the inspired songwriting and contagious
energy makes for refreshing scenery.

Named after Walt Whitman’s promise to “sound my barbaric yawp over the roofs of the world,” The Yawpers recall a grittier version of Wilco, with as much raw country sensibility as twisted indie imagination. Equally akin to Deer Tick, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan and Elvis, The Yawpers give a fresh blend of indie-country and rock ’n’ roll. "

The Yawpers have played hundreds of shows from coast to coast, sold thousands of copies of their EP, "Savage Blue", and garnered acclaim from press outlets across the country. With the release of the full length, "Capon Crusade," The Yawpers plan to keep the momentum going. The Yawpers are: acoustic guitarist and vocalist, Nate Cook; lead acoustic guitarist and vocalist, Jesse Parmet; drummer, James Hale; and harmonica wizard, Dave Romano. The Yawpers do not play conventional electric guitars live or on record.

“Recorded in just under two weeks at UI Studios in Boulder, "Capon Crusade" is the band making a raw, unpolished, and unabashedly American record.” - *Nate Cook

Capon Crusade *was recorded at UI Sound Studios in Boulder, CO with Evan Reeves and Tira Neal, mixed by Bill Douglass and The Yawpers, and mastered by Jim Wilson.
