Album Notes
Third Road Home was the band name used by singer/songwriter Trinity Demask for the release of her first CD. The following is Third Road Home’s old bio, but if you like what you hear, please check out Trinity’s new CD “Crucible.”

"Forty years from now, when the world looks back on this new age of folk, Third Road Home will be riding high on the list of genre-defining artists. Call it the 'Colorado sound' if you will. I just call it great music." - Kenny Hart, Indie-Music.com

"One of the best CDs of 2004" - The Indie Acoustic Project, www.indieacoustic.com

Insightful, heartfelt, and enchanting only begin to describe Third Road Home. The Colorado couple combine eloquent lyrics and soaring harmonies with expressive instrumentation and a genuine, down-to-earth style. It is a soul-stirring blend of earthy Americana that is as evocative, compelling, and ethereal as it is warm and accessible. Like sipping Irish coffee on the porch of a mountain cabin at sunset, Third Road Home's music lifts your spirit and cures what ails you.

Never truly fitting into one category or definition, the components of Third Road Home's signature sound have drawn interesting comparisons. Many comment that their harmonies are reminiscent of BoDeans and Indigo Girls while Trinity's songwriting evokes shades of Sarah McLachlan and Heather Nova. They have found a following amongst traditional folkies and rock fans alike, exhibiting a genuine enjoyment of making music that draws listeners in no matter what the venue.

In January 2004, Third Road Home released their debut CD, "Venus In Retrograde." This introspective collection of songs is continually lauded by reviewers and listeners alike for its intimate and conversational tone. "Listening to this CD is like a deep tissue massage, some lyrics hit hard, but it makes you feel released and strengthened in the end," writes one. "Great lyrics, crystal clear pitch-perfect vocals, superb instrumentation, great variety, perfect production, what more can you ask?" proclaimed RadioIO Acoustic channel host Zoe Montana, "it's absolutely essential for your acoustic collection."

In a short time, Third Road Home has accomplished much. Some highlights include...

* "Venus In Retrograde" named "one of the best CDs of 2004" by The Indie Acoustic Project (finalist in the Acoustic Ensemble category);

* "Whatever Is" chosen for inclusion in mvyradio's Fresh Produce #1 CD Sampler, available nationwide through the Coalition of Independent Music Stores and CDBaby.com;

* Over 300 shows at a variety of venues and functions, sharing the stage with Mollie O'Brien, Ben Winship, Wolfstone, Susan Gibson, Holly Figueroa, Celeste Krenz, Rachael Sage, L.J. Booth and others;

* Multiple tracks from "Venus In Retrograde" in regular rotation on both commercial and community radio stations, and internet radio stations throughout the country;

* "Whatever Is" selected for the 2004 New Song Showcase at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas and for inclusion in the Oskar Blues/Colorado Music Association Sampler CD;

* and "Venus In Retrograde" chosen as one of the Top 35 Music Projects of the Year in both Kweevak Music Magazine's 2005 "Reader's Survey" and "Editor's Choice" awards.

A terrific collection of music. Recommended to all our friends!
We love every song on the album. This music is unique and the artists put themselves fully into each performance. We would buy more music like this any day!

A Masterpiece from beginning to end
Trinity's voice is wonderful, soulful and comforting. Her playing is suberb. Tom, how do you get that sound out of a guitar? Just fantastic, also superb! The harmonies are right on. Gig your beat and the way you embellish it just enough demonstrates how percussion can be art. Mr. Cello player your playing is essential to the sound of Third Road Home. The cello line provides the beautiful emotional underpinnings of every song where ever it appears. In the olden days an artisan would have to produce a great work to show that they had mastered their craft. In that sense this album is a master work and it is so polished and perfect that one can only conclude that these artists have long since earned the title of master musicians. Let's hear some more!

Out of this world !
Their unusual band name honors the magical and mundane. Third Road Homes' music is enchanting as it looks at the everyday events of life and love. Trinity Demask is the exquisite, lead vocalist and acoustic guitar player for the group. Her husband Tom Demask is dynamic on guitars, bass and the bouzouki. Tom also handles backing vocals and his singing blends well with Trinity's versatile voice. Gig Sassano aptly handles drums and percussion on the album. Venus in Retrograde is their thirteen-track debut. Third Road Home travels heavily on the acoustic rock trail but other musical genres are explored on their journey. Their lyrics are poetic and the instrumentation is soft yet vibrant. The self-produced CD soars from the opening intro 'Awakening' to the colorful, closer 'Radio Waves'. 'Avalon' is an insightful visual song enriched by striking guitar work and a gentle beat. I liked the snappy, subtle rhythm and rich riffs in 'Reason To Believe'. Trinity's vocals are mesmerizing as she sings about fulfilling your dreams no matter what others may say. It could be a personal song or presented from an insightful observer. Third Road Home is crafting songs with substance that are sung and played from the heart and the earthy Venus in Retrograde is out of this world!

the album is solid throughout. if you pick out any one song, i think you would like it. the only shortcoming seems to be a very similar style on each song. i think they need to widen their range a bit. a wider range of material would garner a five star rating.

Keep on moving through genres. A moving, haunting work.
Trinity's sound flies to the heart.

Best CD purchase I've made in years
This is what William Congreve was talking about when he said that music hath charms to soothe the savage breast, to soften rocks, or bend a knotted oak. Listening to this CD is like a deep tissue massage, some lyrics hit hard, but it makes you feel released and strengthened in the end.

Very well done. A folk groove that stirs the soul.
I thought all the songs were heart felt and from their soul.
The folk/rock style had a lot of feeling. I predict this group will go far.

It stirs your soul. Songs with real meaning coming from the heart.
Not knowing what to expect, I attended the Black Rose in Colorado to hear this duo perform and what a great performance it was. Trinity and Tom work magic with their music. I’m a big fan of Mary Black and Trinity is right up there in her performance. The songs have real meaning and come from the heart. I have to tell you that Tom’s instrumental work is just outstanding. Clean and smooth it also stirs your soul. You really have to add this CD to your collection. I would guess that my very favorite song would be “Whatever is”.

Like meeting some new friends and talking all night long....
This CD, song after song, beginning to end, is a lyrical conversation between the performers and the listeners. It's like meeting two people for the very first time, talking about anything and everything, sharing some very personal things, and somehow knowing they will be your friends for a long long time. Trinity and Tom invite you in, sit you down, and serve an intimate supper full of good music and good conversation. I, for one, can't wait to be invited back again.
