Honest, happy, down-to-earth tunes.
Great songs. Honest and comforting, down-to-earth.

Fun, fun, fun!
If at all possible, listen to this CD while driving with the top down! It's awesome road trip music, but it's also nice to chill to. Jeremy Babcock's vocals are strong and rich and the harmonies are perfectly melodic. I've really enjoyed listening to this CD.

Jo Mortland

The lyrics are poetic and sensitive, and the instrumentation is very good.
I want you to know that your songs are quite appealing.
The lyrics are very poetic and sensitive, and the instrumentation is very
good. Several of the songs, The Wire from the Radio, Everyone's So Sensitive, and Kiss Me Quick, have such a good rock beat that they make me want to get up and dance - they are catchy.
My Best of Disk vote would go to Falling Away II, which has
wonderful guitar work, wonderful lyrics and lovely
sound overall. I'm generally more aware of the music than the words
until I've heard something several times, and this one has a sound
that attracts me.
I am very familiar with the creative process, and can appreciate what it takes to write songs and then make them into finished products. Congratulations!

harmony-filled heartbreak and happiness
These songs will slip into your heart while you're not thinking and then find their way into your head. Here, they will inspire thought and provoke the honesty they convey if you're lucky, but mostly if you're open. Jeremy's lyrics are littered with sorrow but always tinged with a bit of hope. The harmonies that Jeremy and Shawn share with us on these songs will jump out at you, but they are backed here by a few more layers of pleasure...the adept drumming of Dan Hoffman and the attentive bass of Mr. Michael Doty work to pump these songs up at least a notch or two above what one might expect from a singer-songwriter these days. The addition of some guitar work by Michael Schenkelberg and violin from Gerry Field serve to round out the instrumentation here and make this a very realized first album from a band that is only getting better. One of the better first efforts from such a straightforward singer-songwriter outfit I have heard in a while. I recommend it highly.

Troubadours in the Midwest: We're saved!!!
Not only are Jeremy Babcock and Shawn Schlag (Third Wheel's front men and composers) the nicest guys you want to hoist Guiness with, but their blend of sincerity, humor and playfulness onstage is undeniably infectuous! "Stepping Up and Spinning" is a dazzling and impressive debut! Organic, honest, thought-provoking, and rich harmonies that will make hairs on your arm stand up. BUY THIS CD!!! But don't stop there...make haste and experience the songs of "Stepping Up and Spinning" live!

Kitty Mortland

Third Wheel is one of the gems of Chicago, so it's no surprise that their debut effort is the kind of CD that has you singing along, even after the music has stopped playing. The thing that really grabs you and pulls you in is the harmonies, so expertly crafted by Shawn Schlag. Then you begin to marvel at how perfectly the voices accentuate and complement each other. And finally, you find yourself completely in love with the heartbreakingly beautiful, honest lyrics that jump straight from Jeremy Babcock's soul into yours. Pick up a copy of the disc and you'll see what I mean. You won't be able to stop listening to it.

Makes me wish I could write songs.
This is a cd of sweet melancholy sadness. This makes me think of rainy Sundays. In a good way. Easy to Go, Even the Radio, Falling Away II--these songs are rainy Sunday songs--those days where you get to feeling all philosphical and start asking yourself questions about the meaning of life and your place in the universe. Perhaps you stay under the covers for too long...listening to this. And then...finally...the covers are off....then you make the big leap out of bed. Because the guys who put this together obviously got out of bed so you have to too. Makes me wish I could write songs.

Alison Stawicki

Soothing, plaintive, and inspiring
Wonderful collection of harmonious melodies that calm your heart and move your spirit. Simple yet insightful lyrics of a common experience of love, loss, and changes of living a full life. Bravo boys!
