Album Notes
Original jazz in a traditional style is what defines jazz singer/songwriter Thisbe Vos.

Born in The Netherlands, she began her musical adventure as a teenager, when she joined the UK's No 1 Swing Band The Jives Aces for several tours of Europe and North America. Visiting over 30 cities in 20+ countries before the age of 21, it was during those tours that she started writing original songs in the styles of the 1930s, 40s and 50s.

Looking to record a classic yet contemporary-sounding album featuring a mix of jazz standards and her own jazz originals, she set out for Los Angeles in 2008 in search of musicians who would complement her vocals on this project.

She found a musical mentor in veteran bassist Henry Franklin, who provided her first introductions into the Los Angeles jazz scene.

Six years later, she has released two albums on her record label Prime Productions and has built a respectable and steadily growing following of jazz lovers worldwide. Her crowdfunded sophomore album “Under Your Spell” (2013), received airplay on over 230 jazz radiostations in the US and Canada and spent over 15 weeks on top of the US Cable TV Jazz Chart. From this album, her original song “Shanghai Blues” was designated Jazz Song of the Year at the 2014 International Music & Entertainment Association Awards. Songs from this album can now be heard in hotels in restaurants all over the world.

This year we bring you a third album - a collection of jazzy Christmas songs, including eight classics and four originals. The classics were all hand-selected by Thisbe and include the somewhat obscure but very atmospheric “I’d Like You For Christmas”, originally performed by Julie London and written by her husband Bobby Troup. Her Christmas originals range form the swinging “It Must Be Christmas Time” to the romantic “It’s Beginning To Snow”.

A special thank you to the many jazz enthusiasts from all over the world who supported this album. We have listed their names in the center spread of this booklet.

"Everything a Christmas album should be...warm, happy and joyful. A distinctive voice for the holidays." — B.G.

"Beautiful voice and stylings. Ms. Vos deserves a wider audience and this CD is one of the best in years for Jazzy Christmas songs." — R.S.

"This jazzy album by singer songwriter Thisbe Vos is a real must-have if you want to enhance your Christmas pleasure. This sparkling songstress offers enjoyful fresh interpretations of classic Christmas standards. Combined with several brilliant new Christmas songs of her own it makes this jazzy album a delight to listen to more than once during your holiday season." — R.D.

"I received Thisbe’s cd as a gift a couple of years ago and it rapidly became my favorite Christmas cd. First played during the season (and yes off season), her smooth jazzy vocals are just perfect for a snowy night (or imagining one, since I live in Florida)." — P.H.

"This is my "go to" first holiday album that I play at the start of the Xmas season. At least it has been since it's release. It has a classic style and sound without sounding old or dated. Thisbe Vos has a wonderful voice. Her tone is both soothing and exciting. She will have a long and successful career (if life is at all fair). The musicians are top notch too. You can't go wrong buying this record." — W.R.
