Album Notes
The House of Summer Nights was built mostly by hand by Jason Kesler with the help of a few of his close friends (including his cohorts in National Era). Realtors have called the place "cute" or "quaint"; it only has four rooms, but those four rooms each come complete with four fabulous walls, and those sixteen walls in total hold plenty of memories: the WestGAPS tarot card reading that hit close to home, Matt's eighth birthday party that lasted all night, the Applecheek-Jeweledeye wedding, the time Philemon jumped out the window thinking he could fly, and the bonfire out back that almost burnt down the place. Given all of that (and the other stuff that isn't proper to mention), you'd think that little house would be full-to-bursting by now, but there's still room for more memories. So come on out and enjoy yourself; you're welcome to drop by the House any time. If you have trouble finding the place, just listen for the music . . .

The Summer Nights House Band: Jason Kesler -- vox, keyboard, guitar, percussion / Michael Butler -- guitar, bass / Chris Laney -- bass, drums / Walt Entrekin -- drums / Phillip Mitchell -- trumpet, backing vox / Jennifer Allen -- flute / Isaiah Amos -- sax / Chris Sundling -- upright bass, slide guitar / Dusty Pace -- banjo, backing vox / Trey Young -- mandolin / Jason "Panko" Wilson -- fiddle

The House of Summer Nights is . . .
"a pretty cool mix [of] a bunch of pop sounds [. . .] There's some power pop, some Americana, some rock, and it all adds up to a tasty melodic stew. The title track starts things off in a kind of Wallflowers/Tom Petty mode, and then kicks into high gear with a horn section. The piano-based "We Were Young" follows, reminding me a bit of The Argument, while the languid "Umbrella Sky" brings to mind the latest Cloud Eleven disc. Good stuff." -- Absolute Powerpop

"a loose ensemble [whose] self-titled EP is full of bouncy, sunny pop ditties that reveal an obvious appreciation for Brian Wilson, among other icons." -- Stomp and Stammer

"poppy alt. country [. . .] "We Were Young" has a bouncy piano with a respectful nod to Brian Wilson. "Umbrella Sky" stays in that mode complete with sleigh bells. The remaining ballads are jazzy and countrified respectively.
