ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Philadelphia's premier Organ Trio! Led by saxophonist Victor North, Three Blind Mice call upon that city's great history of organ groups as a jumping off point for their explorations into contemporary modern Jazz. Whether executing the traditional repertoire, exploring their own original music or even creating new standards, the Mice always bring that same dynamic sound- one deeply routed in swing and infectious interplay. Joined by organist Lucas Brown and drummer Wayne Smith Jr., the ensembles long tenure together is immediately evident by their musical sharing and coaction. The unmistakable fun they are having together will be sure to bring you in instantly to enjoy wherever they take you that night!

Exactly What I Expected!
For a "First" CD from an Organ Trio that's been together for nearly eight years, i expected to hear a full-bodied, sound as though more than 3 people were playing. I was not disappointed. The original music, especially those written by Lucas Brown (or), clearly catalogues his growth as a person and a musician. Victor North, plays solos that illustrates both the tenderness & wildness of the Tenor Saxophone; and Wayne Smith, Jr. (dr), pulls it together with his steady rhythms-that can prove to be somewhat hypnotic at times- especially during "Now We know What It Means," V. North and "Sometimes," L. Brown. This Trio is Tight, but play so fluidly you can feel the space. Aaaaaand...they're Philly Cats! BUY LOCAL!
