Album Notes
“We should have named ourselves ‘The Mutual Admiration Society’.” quips BethAnn Galiardi, vocalist for Three Til Midnight. These three band members obviously enjoy each others company and know their music so well, it’s impossible not to have a great time listening. Even if you don't get a chance to hear them live in their hometown of Seattle, Washington, their engaging energy comes through in their studio session as well.

“Mixing smooth, seductive vocals over poetic-like bass lines and sparkling guitar, this group delivers the old standards like a handwritten love letter to Julie London.” quotes one loyal fan among many of their quickly expanding following.

Galiardi met friend and guitarist Joe Fox at a jam session over 15 years ago. She finally approached him about doing a project together in 2005. Fox quickly embraced the idea and left behind what he jokingly calls his “lazy guitar” period to enter a new promising chapter in his music. It was Fox who then recruited gifted bassist and old friend of over 16 years, Gabriel Glennie who he knew to be both talented on the 6 string fretless electric bass as well as the upright double-bass. Classically trained with a terrific rhythm and fluency in theory, Glennie also has a real talent for arrangements and the group relies heavily on his skills as a musical leader.

more on galiardi....
As a little girl, Galiardi spent her evenings at an Arthur Murray dance studio in downtown San Francisco listening to the original recordings of these fabulous jazz standards while she danced the two-step atop her grandfather’s toes. She grew up idolizing the great women jazz vocalists of the 40’s and 50’s. Recognizing her affinity for music, her father bought her first guitar when she was just five years old and piano lessons soon followed as well. By her teens, Galiardi was already composing scores for school musicals and performing in theaters and festivals in and around the Bay Area.
She performed as a vocalist with San Francisco based swing band, Swing Fever and sang 2nd alto with the female acapella quartet, The Satin Dolls. A long-time friend of Seattle’s favorite pianist, Howard Bulson, you can occasionally catch her performing a song or two at any one of “Howard’s pianos” around town.
Also a self-taught drummer and bassist, she is currently working on an entirely solo project of a different genre altogether - original power pop under the name Daisy Pedestrian in which she performs all the instrumentals and vocals for the album.
She’s been a part of various pop and jazz bands throughout her life, but in her own words, “I love to write and play and perform in many genres, but my grandparents jazz will always hold a special place in my heart.”

more on fox...
Joe, whose was inspired by his father’s tremendous musical talent picked up his first guitar when he was just 14 years old. Joe and his father often played jazz together and both were inspired by the music of Diango Reinhardt and Stephane Grapelli with a little Dixieland thrown into the mix. With plenty of encouragement from his family, Fox was mostly self-taught and started his first band by the time he was a senior in high school. He could often be seen in and around Lopez Island playing with either family or friends both old and new. Asked to sit in with various local bands, he once played a brief stint in a country-western band that happily employed him as a permanent fixture through the mid-eighties. Music surely runs in the family as Fox has proudly raised two extremely talented, musical children (Jennifer Fox, bassist and vocalist for local pop-band Julep and Michael Fox, drummer for Albuquerque’s Lousy Robot).
Truly enjoying the music and fans the trio is making, Joe says, “Years from now, I will look back on this as one of the most enjoyable times musically for me.”

Mark & Kelly Avery

Sweet, smooth, soulfully rendered jazz standards. A must have!
We went to High School with Beth in Napa. Recently we saw her link through some correspondence with mutual friends. We listened in to the samples with no real expectations and were absolutely blown away by her voice and the total group sound! Reminds us of a combination of Sarah Vaughn and Rosemary Clooney, yet has a sweet modern sound like Diana Krull. We are not only ordering the CD tonight, but are telling our relatives, whom live in the Seattle area, about the live performances!

Absolutely the best independent Jazz group! Awesome Vocals!!
If you like Diana Krall, you will LOVE BethAnn Galiardi. She has that sultry voice that is reminiscent of the 40's and 50's. Just listen to one of the sample tracks and you won't be able to buy this CD fast enough!
