Album Notes
The Thrillbillys formed in January 2004 to fill the void left by Bill Kirchen and Too Much Fun on Thursday nights at the Sunset Grille in Annadale, Virginia. Bill left for Austin and The Thrillbillys have been performing most Thursdays since then.

Here's a list of the band members.

Johnny Castle (Bass, Vocals): Johnny is The Thrillbilly band leader and has played with some of the best bands in the DC area over the last 40 years. Some of those bands: Bill Kirchen and Too Much Fun, The Nighthawks, Switchblade featuring Eddie Angel (Los Straightjackets) Steuart Smith (Eagles, Rodney Crowell) and Ratso (Kinky Friedman), Tex Rubinowitz and the Bad Boys, Crank, and too many others to even think about listing.

David Kitchen (Vocals, Guitar): Dave is a published songwriter and has written and performed music for television and film (“Wild Iris”). He teaches guitar and produced American Song's debut CD. Dave has been nominated many times for Washington Area Music Association (WAMMIE) awards, including best Roots Rock Vocalist and Musician of the Year-2001. David recently won the Mountain Stage New Songwriting contest. http://www.newsongfestival.com/contest/06_rounds/metro_dc_rround.htm#

Robbie Magruder (Drums): Robbie is another long time veteran of the DC area. Robbie recorded and toured the world with Mary Chapin Carpenter for many years, and also toured and recorded with guitarist extraordinaire Roy Buchanon. Robbie has also played with Ruthie and The Wranglers, The Hanson Brothers, the Usual Suspects, and many others.

Andy Rutherford (Guitar, Vocals, Slide): Andy is another veteran sideman of the DC scene. He has played with Ruthie and The Wranglers, Little Pink, J.P. McDermott & Western Bop and Zydeco Crayz among others. Andy has been nominated for several WAMMIEs as well.

This is rock & roll at it's finest. Raw is how I like it!
It's no accident that I have known, and played with some of these guys for many years. I have made it my business to work with the best in the business for my 40 plus years at it. I just gave the CD a spin, and it really knocked me out. A great selection of tunes for a keenly educated ear. After all the ho-hum junk from many so-so bands, it's nice to hear that these boys are playing their hearts out for us. David Kitchen is one of my all time favorite songwriters, and Johnny Castle is just the best in the business, period. Andy has always been a great rocker, and Robbie on drums? What the hell do you have to pay to get him? He's the tops. For my money, the best product you can get, for the best party wax on CD. "I can't wait to hear a studio album from these guys". Hey...Ya don't believe me? Listen to them for yourselves, If you don't dig them, you need to go to deaf school. Go buy this CD! I have a gun you know!

great stuff: Buy it! Unwrap it! Insert and Turn it up!
Top-notch musicians rocking, swinging and twangin' across different genres. A good glimpse of the great nights we've had the last 2-1/2 years at the Grille. Thanks Thrillbilly's!

Thrillbillys Live!
A must for anybody old enough, or young enough at heart, to remember what rock and roll once was! If you ever are in the DC area on a Thursday night, you MUST go to the Sunset Grille and witness this for yourself! I had the great pleasure of sitting in with this guys at one of their Thirllbilly Karaoke nights and it was a gas!

John Naler

Excellent CD! I'm especially a big fan of Guitarist Andy Rutherford
Excellent CD, I'm a big fan of Andy Rutherford's excellent and tasteful lead guitar, have seen perform in other bands, this is a great collection!

Bob Mady

on most nights these guys were the best bar band in the world- i moved away and
Being able to have the remarkable music of the Thrillbillys at the Sunset Grille delivered to me here in Cardiff, CA is a real pleasure and gift. I saw them almost every week for over a year and they never failed to impress. The guys can do it all, the cd sounds great and puts you in the middle of Annandale, VA . If your in the DC area on a Thursday night head over to the Grille and say hi to the guys for me. If not, buy this and be transported. Actually, try to do both, you'll thank me.
Long Live the Thrillbillys!
