Album Notes
This particular chant, taken from a Native American style, reflects part of the heritage of Thunderhawk (Dennis Hawk). The chant is a very simple one featuring only drum, flute, harmonium and a vocal riff. It has no words, just the repeated vocable wheya, a vocable often found in Native American chants from Lakota to the Native American Church. The idea that I had when composing this chant was that it was a prayer but the prayer dug so deeply into the soul of the singer that no words could express the feelings of the prayer, therefore the title: A Prayer Too Deep For Words.
