Album Notes
Raag Yaman Bandish (Song):
Bandish, cheez or gat is a fixed, melodic composition in Hindustani vocal or instrumental music. It is set in a specific raga, performed with rhythmic accompaniment by a tabla, a steady drone, and melodic accompaniment by a sarangi, violin or harmonium.
Here the bandish/song is set in Taal Tritaal which comprises of 16 beats.
The song is a prayer to Lord Shiva, asking him to show himself to us and guide us in this journey called life. It shows the love, sadness and eagerness of a devotee to see his lord. The song says, “The more I don't see you the more I feel restless in every moment. Shower your blessings upon me. Show me the way..”
