Tie-Dye Harvest is an original and classic rock band whose core members are professional musicians who have been playing together since 1986. While classic rock is Tie-Dye Harvest's celebrated forte, the band has also released 2 CD's of original music and has toured all throughout Ohio and into Kentucky, Pennsylvania, New York and Vermont, earning a reputation as a "band that jams" long before the "jamband genre" tag became overused. Comprised of past or current members of Wish You Were Here - the Midwest's most popular Pink Floyd tribute show, the band is known not only for their faithful cover versions but also their improvisational abilities on songs by Neil Young, The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, The Allman Brothers, Led Zeppelin, and many more.
The origins of Tie-Dye Harvest go back to 1985, when guitarist/vocalist Jim Tigue formed “Harvest” with a group of fellow Lakewood, Ohio musicians, performing Neil Young, Pink Floyd, and various classic rock covers in area bars.
In 1986 bassist/vocalist Eric “Eroc” Sosinski was recruited and the band began to expand it’s repertoire of Pink Floyd as well as developing original music. In 1988 the band debuted the “Harvest Pink Floyd Revue”, a set of Pink Floyd that followed the band’s 1st set of covers and originals. Former Fayrewether drummer Vince Broncaccio joined in 1990 and the band played full-time, touring throughout the Midwest at colleges and clubs. At this time, the band also formed a side-project, Tie-Dye, to play at local bars around Cleveland.
In 1991 keyboardist Bob Gerhard joined and the band changed it’s name to Tie-Dye Harvest, releasing it’s first original CD under that moniker. Songs such as “By The Waterside” and “Boundaries of Disaster” received airplay locally on WNCX and WMMS, while the band continued to perform throughout Ohio and in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, New York and Vermont. The band released another original CD, “Montezuma Skies” in 1994.
According to bassist/vocalist Eroc Sosinski, “I always had difficulty describing our original music, as it was born from a mix of Jim’s acoustic roots and my harder rock influences. We always tried to focus on ‘the song’ itself, as opposed to sticking with any one particular formula. Much like the covers we also played – we could go from Neil Young and The Grateful Dead to Genesis and Zeppelin… and people seemed to appreciate that.”
In 1993, Eroc left the band and joined with Michael Stanley’s Ghost Poets (which has since evolved into Michael Stanley and the Resonators), and was replaced by a variety of musicians over the remaining years of the band, including vocalist Myrtle, who sang with the band until 1998, when Jim disbanded it to focus on his solo career and children’s projects. In 1995, Jim and Eroc reunited to form Wish You Were Here, currently one of America’s most popular Pink Floyd tributes, and reunited Tie-Dye Harvest in 2004 for select shows with long-time keyboardist Bob Gerhard and veteran Cleveland drummer Jon Darling rounding out the lineup. Today the 2 professional musicians also perform together acoustically as the Jim & Eroc Classic Rock Duo, and in various other projects, including Harvest Neil Young Tribute, Colin Dussault's Acoustic Trio, and Grateful Dead tribute Sugar Magnolia.
