ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Stand with your back to the tiny church of St David on the North Gower coast and look out over the Burry estuary. Take in the salt marshes reaching out towards the water, see the wild ponies and sheep cropping the thick turf. Then turn to the west, and look into the mist. You are looking at the invisible tracks of the Celtic Saints, who travelled in vessels made of oak, ash, flax and animal hides east to the Mediterranean, south to northern France, north to the Faroes, Iceland and Greenland, and West towards Ireland and the New World. They were reputed to be the most learned of all scholars, and carried, with the care of those carrying precious and priceless goods, news of the Saviour to all they met. They trod lightly on the earth, leaving little trace of their passage, and slept in frail temporary dwellings, but their voyages and achievements were heroic.
This collection of improvisations and musical ruminations, recorded in the contemplative spirit, is intended to evoke the spirits of those visionary men and women. It was recorded on the beautiful Gower peninsular, that special ‘thin’ place of rock, sea and silence. It looks back in time to the early world, but we hope that for the listener, it also looks inward to the eternal here and now.
