Album Notes
The Tim Bedner Group is a trio that features Tim on electric and acoustic guitars, Norm Glaude on bass and harmonica and Jeff Asselin on drums. For live performances another bassist (TBA) will be part of the group so Norm can focus on playing chromatic harmonica. Concerts with the Tim Bedner Group always include improvisation and exciting interplay between the musicians, epitomizing what great live music is all about.

Influenced by many styles and genres of music, Tim has defined himself as a modern lyrical composer and improvisor. He understands and can express the soulfulness and groove of a blues, the tenderness of a ballad, and the energy and dialog of an uptempo swing tune.

A career musician, Tim completed his undergraduate studies at Berklee College of Music in 1990 and graduated summa cum laude. While in Boston he had the opportunity to perform with saxophonist George Garzone, bassist John Lockwood, and guitarist Garrison Fewell. In 1998 he was awarded a graduate assistantship at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh PA and graduated in 2000, where he continued to teach in the Duquesne University guitar department. While there he performed with saxophonist-composer Oliver Lake, drummer Roger Humphries, and guitarists Pat Donahue and Joe Negri. Tim and his wife relocated to Ottawa ON in 2006.

Tim currently teaches jazz guitar and directs the Contemporary Guitar Ensemble at Carleton University. He is also the founder and director of the Jazz Mentor Night and the Inside the Music series in Ottawa, hosting artists as celebrated and diverse as Dave Liebman, Charlie Hunter, John Abercrombie, Gene Bertoncini, David Occhipinti, Lorne Lofski and Jeri Brown. Both series bring together seasoned professional musicians and mentoring high school and post-secondary student musicians through workshops and performances.
