Album Notes
Tim Bushong has been playing guitar in front of people since his freshman year in High School, where he fronted a three-piece trio called “Trinity” (!) and played for dances and proms in the mid-late 1970's. Best known for his work in the bands “Lovewar” and “The Channelsurfers,” he has been working on the other “side of the glass” fairly full-time since early 2000, producing and engineering countless recording projects in his home-based studio, TBush Recording. This collection of Christmas songs began in 2010 as a one-off single, “O Holy Night,” and was played (and cranked up to 11) during Tim's 50th birthday party. Everyone really liked it, and so Tim recorded one or two songs over the next few Christmases. Mixing some obscure songs along with well-known classics such as “Joy To The World,” this project is mostly in the category of big, bad, strut-rock from the 70's and 80's. Tim played everything, with the exception of his son Aaron playing the drums on “Joy,” “What Child,” and “Skating,” in which Aaron suggested that they record the famous Vince Guaraldi “Peanuts Christmas” song with cranked-up amps. Tim has tried to stay faithful to the overall spirit of these songs, while also riffing and adding solo sections in keeping with the classic rock genre.
