Album Notes
If you take the fire of the most emotive gospel singer, the passion of the most infamous soul men, and the poetic introspection of the “serious” singer/songwriters and put them together, the result is the music and artistry of Tim Dillinger.

Originally from St. Petersburg, Florida, Tim was reared on the sounds of gospel artists such as Andraé Crouch, The Hawkins Family and The Clark Sisters, as well as the soulful sounds of Teena Marie, Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan.

As Tim became an avid reader, he was inspired by the masterful writings of literary legends James Baldwin, Ntozake Shange and Richard Wright, which influenced him in his ever-developing craft as a songwriter.

Tim began working professionally at the age of 18, traveling and singing with Grammy nominated gospel artist Beverly Crawford. That opportunity brought him further work with artists such as Grammy nominated vocalist Táta Vega and Grammy Award winning Christian artist Reba Rambo.

Tim relocated to Nashville in 2001 and transitioned out of the gospel arena and into mainstream R&B. He began singing hooks for hip-hop artists such as Nina Ross, Big Chopper and Kyhil, establishing a reputation in the southern region.

He formed his own multi-media company, Icon’s Pen Media LLC, and began collaborating with producer Dale Babb (Juvenile, Granddaddy Souf, Haystack).

In 2004, the world was introduced to his work through his debut album, Love Is On My Mind. Critically acclaimed in both the States and Europe, the album spawned the single, “Can’t Help But Say”, which held the #1 spot on London’s Jazz FM for two weeks. Tim traveled aboard to promote the album and performed at numerous venues including London’s infamous Hippodrome, dazzling audiences with his four-octave range.

On the States side, Tim was nominated for two Southern Entertainment Awards (R&B Artist of the Year and R&B Album of the Year). He was also cast in the Nashville production of Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity, which brought him rave reviews. His electrifying, standing room only shows in Nashville continue to generate the buzz that he is the “next big thing”.

Tim is currently in production on his sophomore album, The Muse, which reunites him with producer Dale Babb and features collaborations with Frank McComb and Daryl Coley. Utilizing spoken word pieces as interludes tying the songs together, Tim describes the project as “an album that explores the quest for authenticity…my coming of age.” The album is geared for a September 2006 release.

Tim’s unique blend of vocal mastery, poetry, and the infusion of his R&B, soul, jazz and gospel influences, prove that he is an artist with a vision, determined to be a part of the renaissance bringing true artistry back to the forefront.

The sensitive songs will conquer your heart.
"The Muse" is the name of the new Tim Dilliger album. In a mixture of spoken word and songs from his pen we make an exciting journey with this man. The album contains seventeen tracks.

Tim Dillinger has dedicated the album to: Marvin Gaye, Tupac Shakur, Teena marie, Earth Wind & Fire, Reba Rambo-McGuire, Minnie Ripperton and Leslie "Sam" Philips. If you dedicate an album to the persons mentioned above you will do everything to make something beautiful of it. That's excactly what Tim has done.

The perfect combination of spoken word and songs make "The Muse" a wonderful album to listen to. Very sensitive songs like "Tell Me That I Can" and "I Wish" will conquer your heart because of the warm and deep emotions Tim shares with you. He feels so close to you like you could touch him. In "That's The Kind Of Love" we hear Tim's love for Earth Wind & Fire while in "You Are My Joy" a little Stylistic's feeling comes in. A very beautiful approach to the human race is demonstrated by Tim Dillinger in "(I'm Not) Colorblind".

The beauty of "Ode To The Muse" will remind you that there's always hope and that "The Muse" will continue to do Her work also in times to come.(TA)

Homage To The Muse
Dillinger has created an exceptional concept album, which pays homage to the musical greats before him, such as Earth, Wind & Fire, Teena Marie, the late Laura Nyro, Minnie Riperton, and Marvin Gaye, to whom this album is dedicated.

Tim has proven himself again on this second album as a talented writer and soulful vocalist. His songs of passion and love for the human race brought tears to this listener’s eyes.

This is the perfect holiday gift for all ages and musical tastes – from gospel, rhythm & blues to rap. You are sure to hear Laura, Minnie, and Marvin between the lines. He inspires to find The Muse in each of us.

The Muse

Reading Nashville singer-songwriter Tim Dillinger's bio, one would think that any project he was involved in would collapse under the sheer weight of his influences and inspirations; many artists before him have tried the everything and the kitchen sink approach with disastrous results. It's a testament to his raw talent (and skill of primary producer Dale Babb's project coordination) that makes this work hold together. Dillinger wants The Muse to be a gospel album, spoken word show, R&B concert and songwriting workshop all at once--and he absolutely succeeds.

Floating from 1970's orchestral soul ballads to gospel wailers to danceable hip-hop, Dillinger weaves his tenor through lyrics on everything from romance ("That's The Kind of Love") to shady music industry politics ("Never Let Them Change You") and racism ("(I'm Not) Colorblind") without ever seeming contrived or lost. From the opening poetic invocation (dedicated to songwriter Laura Nyro and poet Nikki Giovanni among others) to the soaring, string-laden closer "Seasons of Change" (featuring gospel star Daryl Coley), Dillinger has jumped out of the box independent musicians often create for themselves in hopes that major labels will invest a purposefully narrowed and more saleable vision. True to it's title, Dillinger's newest outing is led by his heart rather than notions of potential for fame and fortune, and contrary to popular belief, that's a really good thing.

Nothing Short of Inspiration.
Smooth Mellow grooves, soulful lyrics & just good feeling. This will go in my Soul collection along with some legends.

I went on Frank McComb's recommendation on this one and had no doubt it would be a top listen. I want to check out more of this man's work. This is essential for true music lovers.

Tim Dillinger is a genius!
Tim’s release, The Muse, is his most introspective work to date. His blend of spoken word poetry and the infusion of his influences highlight his vision as an artist on a mission to bring true musical expressions back to the forefront. Contributing to this project is Daryl Coley, Akua Taylor, and Frank McComb.
The Muse is an experience. From start to finish, Tim’s message of faith, racial harmony, and personal integrity blends perfectly with the live strings and horns.
This CD is a must-have for REAL music lovers! Tim Dillinger is a genius!
