Album Notes
After releasing the successful "PURPOSE OF LOVE" VOLUME ONE, Tim has just released VOLUME TWO. This time around TIm presents 11 new original songs sung by some of the best singers from the Pop world and the Broadway stage. Joining Tim on this new recording is Oscar and Grammy Award-winning composer Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Prince of Egypt, Pocahontas), Heather MacRae, Phillip Officer, KT Sullivan, Capthia Jenkins, Dee Dee Lynn Magno, Bob Bucci, C. Mingo Long, David Gurland and Lina Koutrakos.

Singer/Songwriter Tim Di Pasqua was born and raised in San Francisco, California and began his songwriting career in the late 70's. Being influenced by the "California" sound of Folk pop from artists such as JD Souther, Karla Bonoff. Joni Mitchell and James Taylor, Tim constructed songs full of beautiful harmonies and heartfelt lyrics. As Tim grew as both songwriter and musician, his inspiration came from such varied artists as Leon Russell, Todd Rundgren, U2, Prince, Led Zeppelin, Steely Dan and Sting blending the classic rock song structure with soulful R & B chord phrasing giving birth to a hybrid of incredible sound and style. Now in 2005 Tim has been compared to Alannis Morisette, Pat metheny, Bruce Hornsby and as far from the pop world as you can get, Stephen Sondheim.
Tim spends his time hopping back and forth from San Francisco to New York where he spends his time writing music and recording in the studio, either for his own projects or for other's. The PURPOSE OF LOVE collection is a compilation of his music sung by some of the greatest voices from the pop world and the Broadway Stage, The album features the diversity in Tim's writing and is illustrated by the unique and varied performances he gets from his vocalists. The eclectic cd features standout performances from Broadway belters, jazz crooners, and Pop divas. Proving that if the song is good, it can stand up within any arrangement. And just to make that point more clear, one needs only to pick up Tim's debut solo cd "MONSTER UNDER THESE CONDITIONS " and you will be able to hear some of these same songs but performed in a completely different style and arrangement. Be it blues, jazz, rock, Pop, country, Broadway, Tim feels each pulsing away in his heart an in his veins, inevitably finding their way into an original song
As a singer, Tim is wild about getting in to the studio to arrange and record every new song that he creates. As an arranger and producer, nothing pleases him more than to surrender his song
Into the hands of a gifted vocalist to see what new twist they can bring to it.
Tim has created the music and lyrics for his original musical entitled "SYCHRONICITY"About the lives of five individuals who are thrown together and find out that they have more in common with each other than not, and that there are no accidents.
Tim is the recipient of the BACKSTAGE BISTRO AWARD for Outstanding Singer/Instrumentalist and has received nine nominations from the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs for Outstanding Singer/Instrumentalist, Recording of the Year and Song of the year.
Tim is also an OUT songwriter, fearlessly exploring and revealing his own personal take on love, the world, and human relationships. He also brings special attention to the fact that all relationships; gay or straight have the same intensity, passion, drama, and disfunction illustrating that deep down we are all pretty similar.

Tim D's Music

Some of us sincerely like sincere songs. I relish a well-written bitter and sarcastic tune just as much as the next guy, as well as those with sparkling wit that tickle the brain rather than tugging at the heartstrings. But I need to be refreshed from time to time with songs and songwriters who aren't afraid to wear their hopeful or broken hearts on their sleeves. Many of the selections in this set fit into that tender, vulnerable genre. Composer-lyricist Tim Di Pasqua opens the program singing himself with "What Do I Know?" What he knows is how to write from an emotional place and sing from the same address. Please note that the lyrics aren't necessarily naive; in fact, many reflect grown-up lessons learned but mostly with a refusal to give in or give up.

With a different vocalist on each number, and diverse styles, not every track may appeal to your ear or sensibilities. Such is the case with "Various Artists" collections. However, there is a lot to admire and respect in this second such volume of the songwriter's work. Two selections are from his musical Synchronicity, available as its own CD (he's recorded a solo CD in the past, too).

Not everything is dewy-eyed and innocent - "Irene" by sultry Lina Koutrakos tells the apparently true story of a fast-living married bisexual couple. Broadway composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz, who knows a thing or 100 about writing a heartfelt number, is on hand for the attractively simple "The Best That I Can Do" and KT Sullivan contributes "If You Would Sing With Me," one of the most elegant of Tim's hymns. I always admire the work of Phillip Officer, who has a Master's degree in sincerity and his "As Famous As The Moon," is a highlight. Heather McRae is at her storytelling best in a sad, lonely "When He Walks Through The Door." Some of the singers may be new discoveries to you.

The sound is quite good, clean and clear. Di Pasqua is on keyboards and he plays expertly with truly interesting accompaniment figures that structure songs nicely. Tim the accompanist doesn't distract from or overembellish Tim the songwriter. It surprises me that most of the songs were written in the 1990s or before; I'd thought this second volume would reveal a burst of recent compositions. Although his work doesn't necessarily grab you like those of songsmiths like John Bucchino or David Friedman who write to the heart and get right to the heart in masterful ways, they seem to be in that genre.

This man has great insight. Great style...............
After learning of Tim DiPasqua's work thru another singer, I was most pleased with the first CD. NOW, this one is really something! Even more depth than the last, which I enjoyed tremendously! I'm also pleased to say I have had the pleasure of singing one of Tim's songs and got great response. I now have a new list of those from the 2nd CD to ask for! Great work Tim!
