Musician, Performer, Composer, Recording Artist, Educator

Tim Farrell’s music expresses an elegant simplicity that celebrates the pure beauty of the acoustic guitar. It is a sound that has the power to captivate, intrigue and inspire. As an accomplished fingerstyle guitarist, Tim continually breaks new ground. He has been described as “one of the new trailblazers,” a musician with the unique ability to entertain an audience and inspire future generations of players. His playing infuses craft, technique, and melodic substance to create a style that transcends genre. “Tim Farrell stands apart from the numerous guitar slingers out there. [He is] a guitarist to be heard.” - Billboard, Critics Choice

As a musician…

Tim has the rare ability to inspire listeners to experience music on a multitude of levels. Through his mastery of the intricacies and melodic grace of fingerstyle guitar, he has created a sound that evokes emotion — a sound that is to be felt as well as heard. Here is what critics and other music industry professionals have said about Tim Farrell’s music: “Tim Farrell is an extraordinary guitar player with a gift for memorable melodies.”
- John Diliberto, Host of Echoes, a syndicated program on Public Radio International

“Your music is HEAVEN!”
- Sergiu Rusu, Radio Arad, Romania

“Fingerstyle guitarist Tim Farrell manages to coax melodies out of his instrument in a seemingly effortless manner. Clearly picked notes …invite the voice to start humming along.”
- NAV Magazine

As a performer…

He maintains an active performing schedule, appearing in a variety of concert venues — including the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, PA and the Carnegie Center. His music receives regular airplay on both commercial and public radio stations throughout the country and is enjoyed by travelers on in-flight audio systems. Tim has performed on the World Café and as a featured artist on Echoes, two popular syndicated programs heard on hundreds of stations nationwide throug NPR and Public Radio International.

Here are just some of the many words of praise Tim has received for his performances:

“It was such a pleasure to have you perform here at Longwood Gardens…Your warmth and rapport with the audience brought everyone into your circle of music.”

As a composer…

Tim writes “memorable melody lines that go beyond technique,” says Billboard magazine. And according to NAV Magazine, “Tim Farrell’s melodies lay easily on the ear.”

Tim has written many works for the guitar — both as a solo instrument and as part of an ensemble with other instruments. His CDs showcase the considerable depth of his composing skills. In addition, Tim has written music for TV and radio shows, multi-media presentations, soundtracks, and interactive theater productions.

As a recording artist…

Tim is continually introducing his music to an expanding audience of enthusiastic listeners. In the studio, Tim applies his mastery of technique and precision, while keeping the focus on the melodic power of his compositions. Fans and reviewers alike have praised his recorded works. In describing one of Tim’s recordings, Carla Van Dyke, a New Jersey radio personality said it conveys “uncommonly beautiful guitar playing in its delicacy and power.” Passengers on USAirways, United, and American Airlines flights also enjoy Tim’s recordings through in-flight audio programming.

As an educator…

Tim is teaching a new generation of musicians to develop a deeper knowledge, enjoyment, and appreciation of music. As a guest educator at various institutions, Tim conducts workshops, seminars, and discussions. He can create customized residency programs — as well as help to establish goals and objectives — to fit the specific needs of a school or organization’s curriculum.

Tim’s activities as an educator have included the Accent on Music Seminars and workshop/concert for the U.S. Navy in San Diego, CA. After Tim’s recent series of workshops at the Parrish Center for the Arts in Westford, MA, program presenter, Mike Harde had this to say: “I’m glad the workshops went well. All of the attendees gave you great reviews.”

Tim is also a distinguished faculty member of the Doylestown School of Music and the Arts in Doylestown, PA, where he provides individual lessons and conducts interactive workshops in Fingerstyle Guitar, Composition, and Songwriting.
