ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
In late 1999, Tim Grimm released the album Heart Land. In many ways the recording tracked
his move with his family from the Hollywood Hills to the hills of southern Indiana. When that album was recorded, Tim’s sons Jackson and Connor were 5 and 7 years old. On this new recording, they make up the band, with Jackson Grimm co-producing. They infuse the music with youthful energy that adds to the lived-in quality of songs he’s performed with deep conviction over 20 years. Connor Grimm has played bass with Tim- both live and on record for the past several years (and 4 albums), and brings a melodic sense and groove to the tracks he plays. In Bloomington, IN, he’s a member of the acclaimed WONDERHILLS band. Jackson Grimm plays on his third Tim Grimm recording— all things strings and otherwise- and recently debuted his first full length album- JACKSON GRIMM AND THE BULL MOOSE PARTY. Jan Lucas-Grimm, Tim’s wife and mother of the guys, has been singing with Tim since the original Heart Land. Over the years, she’s also added harmonica to the repertoire and has notably co- written several songs on recent recordings.
Tim began a habit of including traditional songs on his recordings— going back to the first Heart Land. Thus, SOWIN’ ON THE MOUNTAIN (learned from Jack Elliott) and CARTER’S BLUES (AP Carter) blend themselves into the collection of 10 originals - 2 of which are new songs. STAYING IN LOVE was written just before the band went into the studio, and Tim calls it “my father’s song”. LOVE MORE takes a simple message and transforms it into an anthem for Kindness. Joining the Family Band as guests on this recording, are percussionist Ben Lumsdaine, and pianist Dan Lodge-Rigal (who played on the original Heartland), as well as a cameo from friend- Krista Detor.
