Album Notes
“I just felt like talking to the best songwriter I know."
Townes Van Zandt

“Songs of Protest” is Volume 5 of a six-CD Legacy Collection created to celebrate, disseminate, and honor the music of Tim Henderson – a phenomenal songwriter and balladeer whose songs were held in high regard by legendary musicians including Tom Paxton, Allen Damron, Kate Wolf, Stan Rogers, Peter Yarrow, and Townes Van Zandt.

Gathered over the years at festivals, house concerts, bars, and studios, these recordings take us on a journey into the kaleidoscopic world of Tim Henderson - genius, poet, storyteller, seeker, jokester. Our goal has been to help Tim’s songs, tales, and spirit remain -- both for those of us who loved him and for new listeners as well.

Volume 5 contains eloquent and moving songs written by a deeply compassionate man. No one persuaded Tim that protest songs written after the 1960s would be unfashionable.
