ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Born in 1953 in Northern England I used to play piano duets with my Grandma at 5 years old. Inspired by the Beatles I formed a school band in 1962 and absorbed more and more areas of music. By 1974 I had discovered folk and The Incredible String Band and began playing more and more instruments from all over the world. In 2004 I was asked to play on ISB founder member Clive Palmers album. What goes around comes around. I released the first single in 1977 and the first album in 1985. By this time I was working in many areas of music, and becoming steadily professional without realising it. In 2000 I released Anger and Kiss, on which I play all the instruments (around 70). Multi instrumentalism and songwriting are my two main areas of work and I now play in the region of 90 instruments and rising. Like the ISB I treat them as tools to colour and bring out the best from my songs, hence the very solo album. I am at present (Spring 2005) working on the follow up album, this time with some wonderful guests including Dave Pegg from Fairport on bass, Gary Boyle, the world renowned jazz guitarist on electric guitar, Peader Long on bagpipes and bass clarinet and Rachel Patti on vocals.
