Album Notes
With these songs, Tim O Mahony deviates from his usual songwriting style, to the funny and ridiculous themes of the Hit Comedy T.V. Series " FATHER TED ". The songs are inspired by the Whacky and Silly Characters from the show about three Priests placed on an isolated Island off Ireland by the Bishop to keep them out of harms way.
With Fathers Ted, Jack, Dougal and Mrs. Doyle their devoted housekeeper and all the other Whacky characters on the Island, absolute silliness ensues and the songs endeavour to capture the essense of this silliness and fun.
The songs are written in the Traditional Irish Folk Style of Music, such as the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Mackem or the Dubliners and though some of the lyrics are a bit edgy, like the T.V. Series they are just a bit of fun really.
The Song " Drink Feck Arse Girls " is mostly based on the antics of the Character Father Jack, who is very very fond of the drink and tends to misbehave himself. People seem to connect with Father Jack because he is such an irreverant so and so.
The Song " Yes His Name is Father Ted " is based on Father Ted's attempt to earn himself some real respect and fame by winning the Eurovision Song Contest. Some how things don't quite go to plan.
" Ted Will Never Stop " is a song more broadly based on the antics of Father Ted and in a small way pays tribute to the late Dermot Morgan who played Father Ted so brilliantly.
The Brilliant comedy writing and acting by everybody involved with the show obviously has provided great inspration for a songwriter like Tim and you can tell he's a Huge Fan of the Show.
