Album Notes
The making of the Stubborn EP was a long drawn out process and is a collection of songs that Timothy John had written within the past two years. The EP includes a variety of musical flavors that transcends the norms of today's popular music. With songs such as 'Change the Tide' and 'Mad Disease' Timothy John is able to display the roots of his blues guitar playing while also bringing his own personal songwriting nuances. He is also able to expand from that by building a diverse EP, offering songs such as 'Stubborn' and "Intertwined' which offer an atmospheric and ambient sound to the project while still maintaining his roots. The Stubborn EP by Timothy John is a must have for those passionate about music and eager to hear new and exciting sounds.
Timothy John is an Asian American blues guitar player and singer/songwriter originally from Edison, New Jersey and Orlando, Florida but currently located in Orange County, CA. He has opened for and shared the stage with the likes of Yuna, Bad Suns, Mr. Little Jeans, and Jeni Suk. In the midst of releasing his debut EP, “Stubborn”, he is constantly searching for new and exciting forms of inspiration. Yearning to create authentic lyrical content and hauntingly beautiful melodies, Timothy John attributes much of his influence to songwriters such as Eric Clapton, Jim Croce, and more modern artists such as Matt Corby and Hozier. He plays with a band of talented Asian American musicians and friends that contribute to the unique blend of gritty blues guitar, jazz grooves, and soulful vocals that is heard in his music. He plans to regularly play in the Los Angeles and Orange County area but would love to eventually tour.
