Tim Scott - Guitar Mashing (Acer Records 2008)
Star Rating 4/5

Although the phrase 'painting with sound' may come across as trite and unnecessarily pompous, in the UK guitarist Tim Scott's case, it's perfectly accurate. The interesting arrangements and tones that Scott has used here give the oft-tired guitar instrumental album formula a real shot in the arm, making sure that this album comes very highly recommended.

Tim Scott - Guitar Mashing (Acer Records 2008)
Star Rating 4/5

It's not often we declare a guitar album to be outstanding, yet Tim Scott has come up with something that's both highly original and genuinely refreshing. Guitar Mashing is a smorgasbord of guitar styles and delivery and will appeal to a range of players. More importantly, it offers great entertainment value which is what will keep you coming back for more.
Guitar Smashing is a one-man show and much of the success of this album is down to Tim's production: funky, slick and fun. There are lots of great tracks here but we particularly liked The Wonderland Gang and the silky Pink & Chrome.

Masterfully Funky

Ultra funky Latin guitar rock from the multi-talented London Guitar Institute graduate, who handles guitars, bass, keyboards, drums, percussion, and vocals with equal aplomb. Tim's second album boasts powerful, inspired tracks throughout. He's prepared to tackle Bach (Prelude in C), straight ahead, six-string heroics (The Wonderland Gang) and upbeat grooves (The After Show) alike, displaying awesome skills in and complete mastery of each musical format. Jeff Beck's influence comes to the fore on Pink & Chrome, which finds Tim adding traces of tremolo bar king Hank Marvin for extra flavour, while the chart-bound Ibiza's Secret Garden has already received plaudits for its dancefloor rhythms and clean lead lines. Watch out for Tim's name on media credits for many years to come.
