Album Notes
Landscapes is the first piano release from Todd Banks, who has experienced a wide variety of musical styles as a performer and a writer. He began his classical training on piano at eight years old in the Chicago area. After several years, Todd also added bass, guitar and began writing lyrics.

While attending Purdue University in 1985, he formed Psychic Warrior and had his first independent release "Airy-ell". After graduation, Todd moved to Los Angeles where he formed, performed, and recorded in numerous bands including The Black Watch, Eskimo / Dr. Dream records.

After several years on the club circuit, Todd returned to his roots, piano. In 2002, he released "Landscapes", a collection of twelve piano solos. Ranging from quiet and peaceful to energetic and dramatic, Landscapes conveys a positive message of hope. Stirring and moving, the songs draw the listener in with their calm imagery. This collection was mastered in 2002 after the success of Dreamscapes, a collection of piano solos released in 2000.

The album opens with Cottage Mists with a warm, old world, simpler, feel. Meadows is a slow meditative piece, which calms the listener. Landscapes, War, and Coming Home are melodic and memorable while Climb the Mountain, Storm, and Canter through the Woods are upbeat and energizing. Flying in our Dreams transports the listener with a slow dramatic beginning that builds in energy and passion. Sunset finishes the album with a soothing, mellow peace.

The album will leave you refreshed and peaceful. Enjoy.

Richard Fuller - Metaphysical Reviews

Classical pianist and composer Todd Banks offers 12 brilliant original compositions in his recently re-mastered album, Landscapes. Here is music and style that is all at once quiet and peaceful: and energetic and dramatic. Each song delivers the listener to a better place, all found within your heart. This reviwer could see and feel (for instance) a misty meadow: a mountain steeped in cool breezes: a sunset of brilliant reds and mauves: and a white water river delivering me to a placid lake. Todd has been studying and playing classical piano from the time he was 8 years old. In his musical travels, he learned bass guitar and formed several different rock bands. Now he is back to his roots, writing and playing music of calm imagery. His journey served him (and us) well, honing his skill to a superb level. Landscapes is ambient, relaxing and meditative music that most composers can only dream of writing. For over 46 minutes, this reviewer was transported to places of goodness---places where the stress of 21st Century life doesn't exist---only peace and smiles. Landscapes is not a one shot album---the proof is in his next CD, Dreamscapes, see my review. Then look for number 3, Spirit Walk, coming out soon. If you have been looking for soft and stirring music, look for Landscapes. It is all of that, as well as a path to harmony!
