This is a first rate recording of new Bluegrass tunes in the classic tradition b
This is a first rate Bluegrass recording that is technically superior by the musically creative Todd Collins. Anyone who loves traditional Bluegrass will indeed love this album of new tunes. From the album cover photography to the music that sits inside the disc, I recommend it highly to anyone who loves Bluegrass or for the listener who wants to learn about traditional Bluegrass.

Creative and original contemporary bluegass, with deep roots in tradition
This is a must-have recording for anyone interested in contemporary bluegrass. Todd Collins’ musical mastery and Alison Iati’s rich, flowing voice like mountain honey are a perfect combination. The recording quality and mixing are technically outstanding. Collins and Iati wrote most of the tunes on this collection, and the one composition by another artist, Son House’s “Death Letter Blues” is just breathtakingly, heartbreakingly, mindblowingly fantastic!!!

I'm no expert on bluegrass, but I know good music when I hear it and this is good. I'm glad I bought it.

A stellar recording of original, traditional-style bluegrass
This stellar recording consists of 11 original bluegrass tunes (including 4 instrumentals) from guitarist/mandolinist Todd Collins. It also includes a stunning version of the old Son House blues song "Death Letter Blues". The playing throughout is superb, as Collins has assembled some of the finest bluegrass players in the northeastern U.S. I particularly enjoyed the singing of Jen Larson and the picking of Terry McGill on banjo, but this is a recording where everyone gets a chance to shine. If you love the traditional bluegrass sound, "Blue Soul" needs to be in your collection.

A refreshing mix of new tunes played by some of the best pickers in Bluegrass.
A nice mix of traditional Bluegrass songs written by mandolin player Todd Collins with lyrical input from vocalist Alison Iati. I enjoyed the crisp and clean picking and the spare vocal work. In particular the mandolin parts by Todd Collins and the fiddle work of Kenny Kosek are a joy to hear. The bango parts by Terry McGill are so cool and low key they grow more interesting upon each replay and the singing of Jen Larson is spare, right on pitch and to point. If you like traditional Bluegrass you will love this CD.

Appalachian-Soul Personified
Todd Collins hits all the marks on this keeper. The instruments are clean, crisp and clear. The vocals are down-home and sweet. This is a real jewel.
