Album Notes
Todd Harper is a guy who plays piano, assemble ensembles, and gives them pages with black dots to pay attention to or ignore. He likes to be outside as much as possible. ( which is the best cure for his ADD) His music is more jazz than anything- but is not " rooted to the tradition" , in a traditional sense. More like... waltzes, boleros, Schubert lieder, folkloric, exploratory. The longer he lives, the more different kinds of music he likes.... even though Todd can't play most of it.
He lives in Saint Paul Minnesota; was a elementary school teacher over 20 years, now does a whole bunch of things.
People seem to like his music.

From Mark Koerner Dj KFAI Community Radio
I met Todd Harper several years ago when he called into my radio program in the early hours of the morning when I believed that no one in their right mind would be awake and alert enough to lament self-portraits in three colors or the problems one finds living on green dolphin street or to reveal the nuances of haiku. Since then, he’s taken me to meet Genghis Khan in Vienna, dodge Drama in Real Life, and bask in the Suns of March. What is remarkable of his craft is that every note echoes the positivity he brings into the world; a man who’s work reflects him, something here relentlessly upbeat and off-the-cuff compels a listener to canoe through the stream again and again and find that each pass through they can discover a new cove or inlet to paddle towards. On this record, Harper, Thomas, Coursen, Kerr, Hanson, and Yanes come together and deliver music without a hashtag that simply and fully reveals the joy in the world that’s hiding in plain sight.
