Album Notes
This recording, Todd's first solo album, took many hundreds (approaching a thousand, easy) of hours in songwriting, arranging, practicing, recording, re-recording, re-re-re-re-re-recording, mixing, etc... until the salicious brew of ear pollutants collectively known as the "Mister Sensitive" project was thrust from its digital womb into a world of petty grudges. Unlike Todd's band-based recording projects of the 1980s (X-teens and 4 Who Dared), Todd strove for a decidedly raw sound on this endeavor, a goal much advanced by his less-than precise guitar playing. And of course, in wondrous counterbalance to his feeling-over-precision approach to music, the stellar contributions from North Carolina's finest musicians propelled this far beyond Todd's abbreviated skill set.

Todd's music has been compared to: Frank Zappa, Brian Wilson, Warren Zevon, XTC, Elvis Costello and even (gasp!) Radiohead. Musicians on the Mister Sensitive project include former bandmates of Ben Folds, sidemen from Norah Jones and a smattering of North Carolina's secret trove of astonishing players.

Spinning goes through my head all the time. Excellent song. How I Want to Die also great. Cool music!

NC Rocks
Was browsing some new Mike Keneally stuff ("Wing Beat Fantastic" co-written with Andy Partidge) when something I heard made me think of Todd's music and a quick Google search brought me here. Was a fan back in the 90's when I'd go check out Todd and Thing in the Chapel Hill clubs like the Cave (or was it the Cavern then? Eh - who cares...?). I already had some of these songs courtesy of Todd's old Web site and some liberated old mixes on cassette (courtesy of Olly who tried, really tried to lead me there but a square is a square) and was happy to see a complete work here to explore. Todd's music to me is evocative of artists like Andy Partridge (XTC) and Mike Keneally. I really wish this set had included "Mr. Sensitve" or "Villian" or "Good Love After Bad" but I'll take what I can get. Todd - don't take so long to release the next one...!

Steal this CD!
I'm not sure if it's a sign of a great album, or a symptom of some underlying, deep-seated psychosis, but something's definitely going on when you wake up almost every morning with a different tune from this disc in your head. This is really and truly a very cool album --that's all I'm gonna say. Except that I'd expect nothing less from Mr. Jones, and I'd like it in vinyl...
