Album Notes

Don't miss Todd's other great story CDs I REMEMBER YOU, with cello interludes by Marcia Sloane, and I STEAL MY BICYCLE. Both are available from CD Baby.

Todd is an oft-published writer of novels and stories. He is a professional musician and composer. He has just published BUDDHA IN A TEACUP—all forty-two stories—in exquisite book form, and will soon be offering the audio version of the entire text.

Never mind the supposedly Buddhist angle, just great stories
No question about it: this guy is the genuine article, the kind of storyteller I'm always looking for. Listening to Walton's disc in the car on the way to work the other day, I was laughing in traffic, and I had tears in my eyes at the toll plaza. Beautiful and intelligent writing, relaxed and wonderfully entertaining. It's hard to imagine these stories in any other form: he's a terrific reader, great with the characters' voices. And the piano interludes (played by the author, apparently a man of many talents) are more than just a real nice touch: often the stories stop before you expect them to, and then their full impact arrives with the music. I wish he'd put out a solo piano record. Anyway, check out this disc, even count on it being something great: you won't be disappointed.

A perfect gift (stirs the muck?)
The perfect gift to give to a pal who would love to be read to. I was given it for my birthday last week and now I'm here buying another one to give. Among the surprises this CD provides is the way I find myself wanting to listen to it again each time I come to the end. Or I go back to hear a particular story and then I'm listening right through and being moved again by each of them. When I searched for a way to describe how these stories are (touching and funny, subtle and sharp, emotional yet spare) and how I feel while hearing them and afterward, I recalled a very lively girlfriend from about a thousand years ago who once critiqued something we encountered together by saying "It stirs the muck of my soul." While I don't know that the soul is precisely the location that these stories so deeply satisfy, the best way I can put it is: they give my muck a really good stir.

beautiful short stories
I ordered this CD during a serious illness to keep me company, and it did so admirably. The structure of the stories reminded me of haiku... elegant, understated. Also
memorable... the phrases tug quietly at my own
recollections in a way that makes them more pungent.

Very moving stories...keep the kleenex nearby
The stories are moving and insightful. And, Todd's reading is very pleasing; a real addition to the words. It makes me want to hear more!
