ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Tom Hauck began his music career as a founding member of the Atlantics, one of Boston’s seminal punk/pop bands in the late 1970s. Following their appearances with the Ramones at The Club in Cambridge in May 1976, The Atlantics built up a following in Boston and New York, playing at CBGB and Max’s Kansas City, and were signed to ABC Records in 1978. The following year their album “Big City Rock” was released, and then in 1980 the band recorded Tom’s song “Lonelyhearts,” which rocketed to the top of the New England radio charts.

In 1983 Tom and Bruce Wilkinson formed the dance/synth group Ball and Pivot, which scored the MTV and V-66 smash hit “Down.” In 1988 Tom founded the Spanish-language rock group TDCO with singer and film director Luis Aira. Tom left the music business in 1990 and devoted his time to his family.

In 2004 he spearheaded the digital re-release of the Atlantics and Ball and Pivot catalogues, and began playing solo gigs around his home town of Gloucester, including an appearance at the Rockport Acoustic Music Festival. In 2010 Tom appeared with ex-Atlantics guitarist Fred Pineau and the Big City Rockers at the House of Blues in Boston, where they played a set of Atlantic songs.

Tom began his solo recording career in 2011 with the release of his first full length CD, "Pistonhead." His second CD "Afterlife" was recorded at Bang a Song Studios in Gloucester, MA USA. Tom plays all of the instruments except bass guitar, which was expertly handled by co-producer and studio owner Tony Goddess.

Tomorrow’s Gonna Be a Better Day

Tomorrow’s gonna be a better day
Tomorrow’s gonna be a better day
Tomorrow’s gonna be a better day
Tomorrow’s gonna be a better day
The road is long and I have lost my way
Can you feel it comin’? Can you feel it comin’?
My love is strong although I’m torn and frayed
Nothing lasts forever man has made
Tomorrow’s gonna be a better day

Frankenstein

I got a pacemaker in my chest, a metal plate in my head
My teeth look real but they’re plastic bits, got a rod stuck in my leg
I’m Frankenstein and I love to see you move me
I’m a junkyard valentine and you’ll be the one to school me
I’m Frankenstein, can’t you hear me howling
I’m running out of time on the road to wrack and ruin
Stiff and sore I walk the road, watching out for a bigger bang
My feet are armored piercing treads, from my head the wires hang
I got a laser guided eye, I’m rusty and I’m greasy
Just plug me into your circuit box, baby don’t you try to stop me
I’m Frankenstein and I love to see you move me
I’m a junkyard valentine and you’ll be the one to school me
I’m Frankenstein, can’t you hear me howling
I’m running out of time on the road to wrack and ruin

Flash

Where it started no one’s really certain about
Messages are flying at the speed of light
A single thought begins to crystallize in my mind
Multiplied by thousands like a sign in the sky
It’s a flash bringing us together as one
We can hear a million voices harmonize
We can feel how we move in perfect unity
It’s a flash a shining moment in our lives
See it move across the sky
Got no time to wonder why
Can’t be stopped by mountain sides
Hold your head up feel the pride
Oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah
Thunderbolts in Paris, London, New York, Beijing
A common realization of a new attitude
From Tripoli, Damascus, even Washington DC
Generating energy expanding our view
It’s a flash bringing us together as one
We can hear a million voices harmonize
We can feel how we move in perfect unity
It’s a flash a shining moment in our lives
See it move across the sky
Got no time to wonder why
Can’t be stopped by mountain sides
Hold your head up feel the pride
Oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah

My Baby

My baby gives me everything
My baby lifts me when I’m down
My baby mends my broken heart
My baby keeps me on the ground
I know that I’m gonna be all right
When the stars collide and the rivers rise
She’s by my side at the end of time
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
My baby knows just what I want
A simple fact and that’s for sure
Too many reasons to ignore
And then she leaves me wanting more
My baby covers me with kisses
And then she sends me on my way
Into the night when dogs are howling
And then I come back torn and frayed
I know that I’m gonna be all right
When the stars collide and the rivers rise
She’s by my side at the end of time
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
My baby never makes me pay
But don’t I know it that she could
I’m gonna give her what I got
She’s gonna give it to me good
My baby tells me all her secrets
And she can read me like a book
There’s nothing I could ever hide
There ain’t no place she wouldn’t look
I know that I’m gonna be all right
When the stars collide and the rivers rise
She’s by my side at the end of time
Yeah yeah yeah yeah

Fakin It

She’s fakin’ it till she makes it, she’s fakin’ it till she makes it
She’s fakin’ it till she makes it, she’s fakin’ it till she makes it
She’s fakin’ it till she makes it, she’s fakin’ it till she makes it
She’s fakin’ it till she makes it, she’s fakin’ it till she makes it
Don’t you come around here, telling your same old gits
I’m tired of hearing your lies, and tired of taking the hits
Too many pills and too many nights hooking up and heading down
Passed around and passing out, wearing that plastic wedding gown
That’s right, that’s the way it is, that’s the way it is
Everything’s gonna be alright when you get straightened out
Make yourself a brand new start and lock up all your doubts
She’s fakin’ it till she makes it, she’s fakin’ it till she makes it
I sleep on the sofa, tossin through the night
You come in at daylight, you ain’t talkin’ right
Ain’t your business baby is what you say to me
I got my own damn money to pay for privacy
That’s right, that’s the way it is, that’s the way it is
Everything’s gonna be alright when you get straightened out
Make yourself a brand new start and lock up all your doubts

Everybody’s Got to Go

Everybody’s got to go one way or another
You can take it slow or go in a flash of thunder
You can die in bed at night with your family gathered round
You can go in a burst of light as the angels trumpet sounds
Everybody’s got to go one way or another
You can take it slow or go in a flash of thunder
You can drive right off a cliff into the great abyss
Or suck on down a poison spliff and rise in a purple mist
Everybody’s got to go one way or another
You can take it slow or go in a flash of thunder
You’ll meet mister D one day just walking in the park
He will greet you with a smile before your eyes go dark
Lord now won’t you let me go into my lover’s arms
Underneath the apple tree I’ll surrender to her charms
Everybody’s got to go one way or another
You can take it slow or go in a flash of thunder

Bang Yer Head

Bang yer head, bust your brain, open up yer eyes
Bang yer head, bust yer brain, don’t believe the lies
Confusion fills my brain - am I up or going down?
I fly up to the sun and crash back to the ground
All those times that I’ve tried to make a dollar from a dime
They don’t seem to make much difference when I‘m trying one more time
Bang yer head, bust yer brain, open up your eyes
Bang yer head, bust yer brain, don’t believe the lies
See mountains turn to sand and twisting rivers rise
Hear thunder in the hills and music in the skies
Break another way down through the deadly maze
Nothing old can help us, we can’t go astray
Bang yer head, bust yer brain, open up yer eyes
Bang yer head, bust yer brain, don’t believe the lies
Explode your view into a million little pieces
Chew them spit them out into the universe
See the children in a row
Teacher knows not where to go
Will the world just pass you by
Never know the reason why
Take these shattered fragments, make them something new
Make them something strange and wonderful and true
Bang yer head, Yeah yeah yeah
Bust yer brain, Yeah yeah yeah
Explode your view into a million little pieces
Chew them spit them out into the universe
Bang, bang, bang yer head
Bang, bang, bang yer head
Bang, bang, bang yer head

Rosie the Rocket

Rosie the Rocket, runnin all over town
Got the world in her pocket, nothing gets her down
Look at her go, go, go - look at her go, go, go
Look at her go, go, go - look at her go, go, go
Don’t you break my heart again, no don’t you break my heart
Don’t you break my heart again, no don’t you break my heart
If you ask her any question oh yeah
She’ll say love is the answer oh yeah
She’s free - free as the wind
She’s free - free as the wind, as the wind
