Album Notes
What an appealing group! The singer-songwriter-pianist, dedicated mother of four, pilgrimages to Hindu temples and dreams of midnight flights to Rio for Carnival. On stage she will belt out a torch song one minute, follow it with a delicious Cole Porter ballad or a tender original love song, offering a sardonic Dave Frishberg ditty for her change up.

The guitarist and musical anchor of the quartet is a conservatory teacher of guitar, has a graduate degree in Fisheries Research, leads bike tours through the Black Forest, and plays his Eastman AR810CE like the ghost of Joe Pass.

The bassist is an Indie film buff, new father, professor of double bass and finalist in the International Society of Bassists double bass soloist competition. On up tempo standards he pulses like a fast freight train, and sculpts masterful solos echoing strains of the late great Scott LaFaro.

Swinging sweetly behind the ensemble, and occasionally kicking out deft four bar solos on his vintage Slingerlands is a New York City trained visual artist. This renaissance man has drummed jazz since age ten and makes his living as a piano tuner.

Meet Jenny & Tom McComb, Dave Story & Kevin Knopp... The Tom McComb Quartet. They have been uniting for gigs and concerts the last seven years, performing a hybrid style of jazz that melds Jenny's original compositions with classic jazz and Brazilian traditions. This talented Wisconsin foursome has been flying under the radar of the greater jazz universe. They play their music with verve, intelligence and a sense of beauty... a rare find for the lover of pre-fusion jazz.

Thought Provoking and Sense Evoking!
Just love their sense of style. It's like taking a drive down a beautiful and vaguely familiar road when you can't tell what the next turn will bring and are pleasantly surprised each time. They capture this musically and lyrically - That's hard to do!
