ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Hi there guys and girls. It's Tommy here from the "Song for the Philippines" project.

After the strongest storm recorded in history, the natural disaster of the highest order, typhoon Haiyan left the south of the Philippines in November 2013 with over 6.000 dead, thousands of homes destroyed and 14 million people affected, of which nearly 6 million were children. 500.000 people were left without homes, schools, hospitals, food, medication and safe drinking water (*).

Immediately after the storm, first responders like UNICEF and other world organizations flew in to evaluate the living conditions of the survivors and provide help where possible. While they did everything they could with the resources available, over a year later, there is still much critical work to be done. Since Haiyan, more disastrous typhoons and storms have repeatedly hit the Philippines, and the numbers reported above for people affected have risen. By purchasing this song you will directly help and assist the Philippine government and assisting humanitarian organizations provide safe drinking water for millions in need, continue delivering medical supplies to clinics, reunite separated family members and provide temporary education for thousands of Filipino students (*).

At first glance today, the areas affected appear covered in the serene quiet of overgrown vegetation. But beneath the illusion of the tropical scenery lays the suffering poverty of a third world. Regardless of the dire conditions they endure every day, the Filipino spirit is strong and resilient. They keep going every day, praying for the desperately needed help to lift them from this current ongoing nightmare in the hopes of returning to a life of normalcy. With the purchase of this token of hope, WE can make a real difference in the lives and futures of the Philippine people and help them return to a life we take so much for granted.
