ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Elizabeth Browning wrote: “How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.” And then Roger Rabbit, jumping up and down on a bed, added: “One-one thousand, two-one thousand, three-one thousand…”

Ah, the variety of expressions of love is, for all intents and purposes, endless.

Here, we offer 14 songs that extend that inventory even further. From the sublime to the ridiculous, these songs tell of love gone right, love gone wrong, love not missed, and love not found; we sing of love unending and love that hits a brick wall; then there’s the love of peace, and the love of our global neighbors.

Douglas V. Rose (a retired, but hardly shy, English professor) and I go back a long way–we met in the 7th grade–and somehow have remained friends all that time. And that’s another expression of love, if ever there was one. Some of these lyrics were initiated by Doug, and some by me, but the 9 songs that we co-wrote are a gift of love to whoever needs those particular expressions.
