ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The friendship between Douglas Rose and myself goes back to 8th grade, which means that we have been friends since 1963. That is one year before I started playing the guitar, and 4 years before I met the girl who would become my wife! During those many years, Douglas and I have written a lot of songs– some of which were church anthems, some love songs, some silly songs, and at least one wedding song. We also wrote several radio plays together, which we like to think were terribly funny. Douglas’ ability as a poet and lyric writer put him in the more accurate category of Wordsmith. This collection of songs was conceived as a collaborative effort: 13 of the 16 songs were created with lyrics provided by Douglas, and for the first time in 50 albums of my music I am featuring a singer other than myself. This friendship goes far beyond the music and the words. It is a thing to be cherished, and it is definitely a Matter of the Heart.
