ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
There are so many different kinds of voices, not all of them human. This collection of instrumental songs celebrates quite a few of them: word, call, response, broadcast, dream, silence, phrase, epistle, choir, neutral syllables, waves, the inner voice, noise, loudspeaker, vox, memoirs, diary, points of view, sirens’ song, melody, mouth. Voices that we hear; sources of voices that we hear.

Each song has a vocal component, whether it’s background ooh/aah, chanting monks, husshhhh, beeps, announcements...there are voices all around us all day long, all vying for our attention. And even silence can be deafening.

As we grow, as we mature, we become aware of more and more voices. As we become more discerning, we learn to pick and choose the voices that will receive our serious consideration, and which ones we can ignore.

One more thing that these songs explore is the variety of sounds that can be produced by the human voice: languages, feelings, ambiences. Enjoy the music, and may it all help you to find your own voice.
