ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Songs of the earth, songs of nature, songs of peace. In the lyrics in this collection, I have borrowed from the best; you will find references (direct and obscure) to the Bible, the Bhagavad Gita, Kahlil Gibran, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Gertrude Stein, the Latin Mass, a few ancient proverbs, and some original ideas. “Fire is Hidden” was co-written with my good friend Douglas Rose, and “The Green” is based on verses by Cindy Rasely.

A pastor I know likes to say that we are all Holy Ground, because that is where the Spirit of God resides, within us. But there is also something holy (sacred, set apart, consecrated, hallowed, blessed divine) about the earth itself.

It is a sad fact that, especially recently, we have not treated this planetary home as well and respectfully as we should. And it is a truth that the hour for reclamation is getting very late. I hope these songs will help you to consider more deeply the gift we have in the world we inhabit.
