ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The dictionary defines the word Hymn as “a song or ode in praise or honor of God, a deity, a nation, etc. Also, something resembling the above definition, as a speech, essay, or book in praise of someone or something.
These 20 hymns come from the Christian tradition, but many of them transcend any one particular denomination, and a few are found in non-Christian hymnody. That makes sense because every form of faith, every major religion, and some minor ones, have their own “sweet hour of prayer.”
I have been playing some of these hymn tunes for more 40 years in very much the same arrangement that you hear on this recording. For many reasons, I just never got around to creating this collection. But now, here it is.
I hope you find a t least song that you can sing along with in your own private “sweet hour.” And if you don’t know all the words, borrow a hymnal from a nearby church– they’ll probably all be in there. Or you could just make up your own words of praise for the someone or something that is greater than yourself.
