Album Notes
The Forgetful's Reminders On Love, Loss, Lunacy & Leaving Vol. 1

There are moments in life I have personally experienced, events I have observed, and stories told which have stuck with me. Over the course of years, I have written about these moments and found the majority thematically fall into four categories: love, loss, lunacy and leaving.

Based on conversations with people I’ve had the pleasure of sharing the air with (and some, which have caused me to sigh in disbelief that these are the people we’re sharing the air with), I have discovered the subject areas I mentioned above tend to be universal. We share much more common ground in the Venn diagram of life than we acknowledge. Even at our eye-rollingest, we do. These four occurrences are occasions of such. They assist in furthering the argument that it’s all the same shit we go through – just different smells.

Whether it be the unpredictable nature and origins of love, devastating heartbreak involved with loss, the downward mental spiral which spawns from lunacy or the insecurities and uncertainty surrounding leaving people or places which have become comfortable and familiar, it seems like these are reoccurring themes we all come to know and deal with throughout our lives. While in the midst of love, loss, lunacy or leaving there are times I often forget these are shared human experiences. Or that in what appears to be a brand-new occasion, I’ve dealt with similar circumstances before. It’s like how some people say life may not repeat itself exactly, but it often rhymes. From my experience on this planet, I’ve found this philosophy holds some truth. Life rhymes an awful lot.

When confronted with seemingly reoccurring rhyming scenarios, these lyrics are reminders which serve as a sort of kick in the ass. They assist in recalling love’s good times and remind me to appreciate them for the moments they are. They console me when all feels lost, divert me from tumbling down rabbit holes amidst episodes of insanity and periodically supply me with courage required for gathering strength to sail uncharted waters. As I mentioned before, these lyrics are the string tied around my finger. They are The Forgetful’s Reminders On Love, Loss, Lunacy & Leaving.
