Album Notes
Fifty years after his 1962 arrival as an unknown on the Boston/Cambridge acoustic music scene, Tom Rush is an internationally established singer-songwriter well-known for his “golden ears” in discovering new talent (he was among the very first to record songs by then-unknowns James Taylor, Jackson Browne, and Joni Mitchell).

Tom’s new live CD/DVD 2-disc release, Celebrates 50 Years of Music, captures his historic 50-year performance anniversary in concert at Boston Symphony Hall in December 2012. Tom plays material encompassing all phases of his career, including his best-known original composition “No Regrets” and his definitive reading of Joni Mitchell’s “Urge for Going,” among other signature songs. His special guests – old friends David Bromberg, Jonathan Edwards, and New England-based folk veterans Buskin & Batteau, and “the new guy,” singer and multi-instrumentalist Dom Flemons of the Grammy-winning Carolina Chocolate Drops - serve as part of the stellar house band behind Tom and each other during their turns in the spotlight as featured frontmen.

There are 13 songs from the concert on the CD and 17 on the DVD, which also features unreleased interviews with Tom, behind-the-scenes rehearsal footage, and lots of Tom’s tale-telling and on-stage banter. Watch and listen – it’s the next best thing to being there.
