Album Notes
“World music instrumentalist, composer, educator and Wammie Award-winner” are words that describe both percussionist Tom Teasley and woodwind player Seth Kibel. After years of seeing each other around the Mid-Atlantic music scene, the two were finally brought together by a request from the Washington Jewish Music Festival for “something brand new.” With enough instruments between them for a full ensemble, jamming led to composing, which led to performing, which led to Tiny Planet. This collaboration combines exciting rhythms and unique melodies with influences from around the globe.

Tom Teasley, described in the Washington Post as “a multi-instrumental genius,” maintains a unique career as a solo percussionist, composer and collaborator. Tom was awarded the Drum!magazine “Drummie”Award” for 2016 “World Percussionist of the Year” and first runner up for “Percussion Clinician”. Tom is a 2010, 2011 and 2016 Helen Hayes Theater Award recipient for outstanding sound design. Tom tours frequently throughout the world performing and presenting clinics for the instrument companies he endorses including Yamaha, Vic Firth, Sabian, Remo, Gon Bops and others. A five-time recipient of a Fulbright-Hayes grant for performances in the Middle East, Tom collaborated with indigenous musicians and gave historic performances in Saudi Arabia, the West Bank and Jerusalem.

Seth Kibel is one of the Mid-Atlantic’s premier woodwind specialists, working with some of the best bands in jazz, swing, and more. Wowing audiences on saxophone, clarinet, and flute, Seth has made a name for himself in the Washington/Baltimore region, and beyond. He is the featured performer with The Alexandria Kleztet, Bay Jazz Project, Music Pilgrim Trio, The Natty Beaux, and more. His song “New Waltz” was the Grand Prize winner of 2016 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest (MASC), sponsored by the Songwriters’ Association of Washington (SAW). Seth proudly uses Rovner ligatures and clarinet barrels.
