Album Notes
This fresh new edition was remixed, re-imagined and remastered by Tony Mecca in 2016. Originally released independently in November 2003, and worldwide by Morrhythm/Outstanding Records in 2005, PURPLE MONKEYS is Tony Mecca's powerful debut CD that introduces the world to "Suzie Lone Star Hero", "Billy the Bully", "Simple Cindy" and many of the other unique characters that often inhabit Mecca's songs. Laced with details that only the most passionate observer of humankind could possibly convey, the listener is quickly initiated as the newest member of the crowd. As one emailer so aptly commented "I personally know all of these people, yet I never met a single one of them."

Tony says of the new editions ...
... I spent 8 months in 2016 transferring these albums to a new DAW, and then remixing. I think given the crude recording equipment and novice engineering techniques applied during the original recording sessions, these songs have now been raised to their highest possible sonic level. I've always believed these songs deserved this type of loving care, and I am very confident that fans of this CDs will thoroughly enjoy these new Monkeys.
