ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Bio
His songs have been covered by Jefferson Starship, the Band, Rick Danko, Ritchie Havens, Scott Petito and Leslie Ritter, John Hall and dozens of European artists, many becoming number one hits in England and Norway. His albums have sold well in Europe. One became platinum in the mid 90's. He played folk rock in Greenwich Village, NY in the late 60's and alternative country in Austin Texas in the early 80's. He walked out on the Nashville songwriting factories and spent 10 years in Dublin Ireland recording and touring extensively in Europe. He now lives in Woodstock, NY and tours both America and Europe. He is admired by critics, fellow performers and perceptive music lovers who have bought the imported copies of many of his albums. Andy Hardin, Tom Russell's long time guitarist, called him "the best solo performer he's ever seen." As of this writing, April 20th 2005, he is about to release his 19th album "Rebel Spring"

Quotes
"Tom Pacheco deserves to be mentioned in the same tones of reverence as John Prine, Townes Van Zant, Guy Clark and Steve Earl...Tom Pacheco is one of the most impressive singer/songwriters of our times."
- Hugh Gregory, Folk Roots

"These latest albums prove once again that Pacheco is one of America's most unjustly overlooked singer/songwriter...Tom Pacheco is a quintessentially American Songwriter. Every song is a gem." - Paul Emile Comeau, Dirty Linen (Jan 5 2005)

"Perhaps Woodstock's finest songwriter."
- Gary Alexander, Woodstock Times

"A Master craftsman...Tom Pacheco is always worth listening to. In many ways his is a voice crying in the wilderness, just as Gutherie's was back in the time of the great depression, and Seeger's was in the fifties - and Dylan's was, when he gave voice to those unable to express their own fears and frustrations in the early sixties. In many ways, Tom Pacheco is continuing that great tradition of putting into words those thoughts and emotions which many of us feel but are unable to express with the eloquence and conviction that he does."
- Maverick Magazine, United Kingdom

"Tom Pacheco is indeed one of the great storytellers within the timeless span of folk, country and roots music, an exceptional vocalist and acoustic guitarist whose lyrics are ingenious." - Johnny Andreasson, Fremtiden, Norway

"He's a brilliant observer, a philosopher for today, the kind of artist for whom lyric sheets were designed...one of the great discoveries of recent times."
- John Tobler, Country Music People

"With songs about peace, love and harmony tempered with a sharp political edge...Pacheco's music will continue to be relevant for some time to come."
- Olivia Doyle, Carlow Nationalist

"Perhaps Pacheco's trump card is that he understands the frailties of the human condition better than most...Tom Pacheco has put himself in the frame as one of todays finest writers and performers."
- Oliver P. Sweeney, Hotpress, Ireland

"Lyrically his songs are gems, from love laments to anti-war ditties, his wordsmithery is most impressive."
- Andrew Vaughan, Vox, England

"Tom Pacheco is without doubt a major league writer able to incisively examine politics both personal and communal with a clear eye and artist's intellect not in a self mystifying lyrical 'art' but with emotional clarity. He also writes damn fine tunes." - Steve Morris, Beat Magazin

Rebel Spring
Can't stop playing this CD. Written from the heart and soul of someone who has been there, feels the pain, the joy, and understands how unfair life can be to so many who deserve better. Tom and I need to talk about so much. If only I could present my thoughts and feelings as Tom can!

I really like this album - very strong thought-provoking, moving lyrics and pleasing melodies. You need to listen carefully to the words to appreciate it fully as it grows on you. Good to hear songs that touch on today's problems. Tom Pacheco puts real passion into his songs.
