Trace Trio plays totally unique improvisational music, blending elements from jazz, classical, jam band, and world music traditions. Award-winning composer/pianist Larry Bitensky founded the trio in 2014 with guitarist Daniel Worley and bassist Nathan Link. The singular chemistry created by these three extraordinary musicians is fully on display in The Nature of Three. The sweetness of Bitensky’s alternately tuned piano matches perfectly with the timbral variety and imaginative virtuosity of Worley’s guitar, all grounded by Link’s jazz-inspired bass licks.
Bitensky’s original structured improvisations range from the lyrically moving “Trace” to the haunting and intense “Rain.” The creative adaptations of songs by jazz greats Bill Evans and Randy Weston round out the album.
