Album Notes

- PARENTING MAGAZINE lists NEVER MIND THE RAIN among its "Best Music for your Toddler" choices for 2007

- SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL's review says: "The songs are polished and professionally performed. Let's hope we hear more from Eldridge in the future!"

- BALTIMORE'S CHILD magazine says: "Listening to Eldridge's songs is like taking a deep breath of fresh air filled with high quality musicianship, composition, and talent. There is none of the talking down to kids or the dinky sounds of electronic music that permeate so much of the music in the children's market."

- Phil from at A FAMILY RUNS THROUGH IT calls NEVER MIND THE RAIN "a collection of highly-polished full band recordings in styles ranging from Dixieland to Rockabilly to Zydeco. And we're all in love with Tracey's gorgeous voice. She reminds me of two of my favorite singers, K.D. Lang and Karen Carpenter. She tells great stories and teaches about music in a fun way. My kids and I highly recommend Tracey Eldridge! You can buy her CD online at CD Baby."

- John Wood at KIDZMUSIC>COM. says: "Eldridge's honey-coated vocals float atop clever original tunes, toe-tapping arrangements and highly edutaining story-songs. Never mind the rain but give your full attention to this gifted artist."

- Kathy O'Connell of WXPN Philadelphia's KIDS' CORNER and author of METROKIDS MAGAZINE'S SOUND OFF! says: "I love this cd. I especially love the variety of musical styles... a diverse and delightful musical buffet."

Tracey Eldridge is an early childhood music educator, songwriter, and veteran musician/entertainer from Maryland. After two decades of making music for kids Tracey has recorded 14 favorite “originals” for her debut CD entitled NEVER MIND THE RAIN. A 2007 Parent’s Choice Gold Award Winner, the CD features memorable songs and musical stories complete with imaginative sound effects and recorded with full ensembles. NEVER MIND THE RAIN teaches children in a most delightful way about the different styles of American “roots” music.

The ensembles include 25 of the Baltimore/DC area’s finest musicians playing rockin’ zydeco, Dixieland, folk, swing, boogie woogie, Hawaiian, Appalachian, rockabilly, reggae, and rock ’n’ roll. The grooves are infectious, and listeners should be forewarned that dancing often can’t be helped! Listeners of all ages learn to identify sounds of instruments that characterize each style.

Though Tracey’s song lyrics are whimsical, fun and sometimes even silly, the music is “seriously” parent-friendly! Producer Mookie Siegel (Phil Lesh & Friends, Ratdog, David Nelson Band) adds magic to each track with his own brand of zany humor. Arranger Brian Simms (Junkyard Saints, Disappear Fear) contributes inventive horn arrangements. Call-and-response vocals by The Incredible Worker Bees children’s chorus entice listeners of all ages to sing along. Moms and dads enjoy this music as much as the kids do.

A little bit about Tracey.....

Having studied guitar, voice, and a variety of stringed and percussion instruments over 25 years, Tracey performs a wide range of musical styles. Since 1981 she has played in every kind of format from the classic big band to solo. Formal studies in theatre arts and languages coupled with two decades of experience in teaching, movement, and clowning give Tracey’s musical performances great color and dimension.

Tracey first performed for children in 1988 while serving as entertainment director to a cruise line. In 1993 she developed her popular MUSIC 'n' MOTION program for performance in schools and children’s entertainment arenas. In that same year she created, at the urging of parents and nursery school directors, a preschool music curriculum (Celebrate Life with Music!) and launched her preschool teaching career. Over the past decade Tracey has touched the lives of thousands of children in the classroom, at elementary and middle school assemblies, and at libraries, concerts, festivals, and fairs.

We love this music!
This cd is fun to listen to , and does not annoy the parents like other kid cd s. It has snappy, peppy songs that you can't help but catch yourself singing in the shower long after your children are in bed. All the songs are distinctly diffrent from each other and all equally creative and interesting. one of the best kid cds ever!

Sherry Mason

delightful songs that make you want to dance and sing
This is a phenomenal, must have CD. The song writing is creative and whimsical and can't help but capture your interest and imagination. The depth and quality of the music is five star, including so many different interesting instruments played by some great musicians. Children of all ages, including their parents, will certainly enjoy being introduced to the many different kinds of music in this fantastic production.

fun, sweet, and makes you feel great
The music is charming and sweet it reminds me of music from
the 40's. This cd has music that you play and sing with it doesn't have your every day childrens songs. These songs are more sophistacated.

Not only are the music and lyrics catchy, the message and educational impact is WONDERFUL too! Children will not even realize that they are learning. What a coo that is!Tracey has made learning and listening fun! No child likes to "listen", but when education and listening is put into the context of fun - how great is that! If rating was a 10, I would place Tracey's CD at 11! I found myself tapping my feet and my day got brighter!

I am a Mother and Grandmother of 2 - just loved it!

Real roots music for children and adults.
This CD is awesome. Tracey has written and arranged these wonderful songs, with some of Baltimore's finest musicians. Shimmering pedal steel, subtle and interesting background vocals, great lyrics, and a fantastic drummer...what more could you ask for? I highly recommend this if you like swinging, roots music and are sick and tired of insulting kiddie music for your children, and want the real stuff.

So much Fun
This one is the best. Typical Grandad, I've purchased all kinds of things for my grandbaby and this one is the very best. Upbeat and happy we sing along and dance to Tracey's songs and it never fails to bring those beautiful smiles I'm always looking for. We're going to turn this CD into tradition for our family.

What an amazing recording!
Tracey Eldridge's 'Never Mind the Rain' is a breath of fresh air. Through a concotion of sophisticated riffs, colorful chords, and wonderful stories, Tracey magically creates a musical smorgasbord certain to educate, entertain, and delight. This CD should come with a label warning parents that they'll become as addicted to the music as their kids! Highly recommended!

This CD is pure joy. The songs are clever and tuneful, and the arrangements are imaginative almost beyond belief. The last song was so beautiful I wept, enveloping me with the feeling of special intimacy shared by a mother and small child. I adored the whole CD, but this song came to me as an extraordinary gift.
